America vs Canada

Tuesday, January 25, 2005 by Webster132 | Discussion: Community

On this site it seems like America tottal takes over, their are millions of Canadians that come on this site looking for downloads, but most of the Widgets/Themes/DesktopX's are all based on the fact they think ONLY Americans will be downloading them. Everything I have downloaded on this site so far that requires a area code, only takes American postal codes, like the weather bot, or the local movies widget, it only takes American Postal Codes, so they won't work for Canadians, i think this is very unfair.

Your objection should be duly noted by the Skin Authors. Maybe some Canadians skinners will take notice of your plight. In time, in time. So be patient.

Most of these sorts of widgets, ones that are netcentric, need to have the information they are displaying available on the net or they wouldn't work. As far as I know all or almost all weather widgets/objects use DX coding done by _martin_ who lives in England and so they work everywhere in the world. Usually you'll type in the city, country in place of the USPS Zip Code.

I live in canada, and make widgets that work in canada. Martin makes stuff that works everywhere on the planet, and my stuff is based on his stuff.

People should bear in mind that most of the people here are from 'the rest of the world' (even Canada   )

Jack Doners 010 Thank you. Your grasp of the english language and eloquence of verbage has clearly helped me see my failings in life. That my some 41-years on this earth have been wasted here in America and I am now furthering this plight by continuing to raise my children here. I truly hope that they, one day, can inspire to be as enlightened as you are.

The only way a troll should be fed

Back on topic - http://www.weather.com/common/drilldown/CA.html?itemName=Canada&countryName=Canada&countryCd=CA&what=WeatherLocalUndeclared&y=6&itemCd=CA&x=6&geoCd=4&lswe=canada&lswa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&geoCdChild=1

The link to Canada on Weather.com. For anyone that doesn't know how to do it this way. Click on the appropriate location, check out the code in the address bar and enter into the Weather object/widget of your choice.

So the first on the list 'Abbotsford' = CAXX0001

Citizen Jack Doners 010  ...Wincustomize.com is an American-based site, sponsored by an American company.  Any skins, etc [or these widgets mentioned in this thread] which you may or may not have obtained here were provided to you by them at THEIR expense.

Pays to be civil.

Jack Doners 010 spoke the truth, and simply didn't see the purpose of wasting unnecessary additional words when his point had been made clear.

I live in a place with many, many Canadians. the ones I know seem to be OK. Still it's strange that they would spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to come here considering what they think of the US. As a native Floridian I sure wouldn't mind if they just stayed in Canada. Besides I hate it when I get some of their change and none of the stores will accept it.

I just knewthis would happen from the title alone.

My experience has been that Stardock stuff works just fine here in Canada, eh! I get really annoyed at some other companies who want you to register their products but only take US zip codes. That however has nothing to do with these good folks.

As far as I'm concerned, we are all(Canadians&Americans)generally the same people. Only the border and politicians seperate us. A lot of us have desendents that come from the same place.....correct? I have some relatives that live in Minnesota and Washington(born there)that desended from Europe, as I did. I don't understand this Anti-American and Anti-Canadian thing at all........whatever
