Friday, January 7, 2005 by ballader | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hallo to all!

My friends, I have a problem!!!!

I download the .suite files, but nothing happens when I ricght-clickon it, and select Apply Theme

I tried everything, but nothing yet. Can anyone help to this ?

...and something else. Is there any way that we can convert the .suite files AT .theme files ?
If it is possible, it is too easy for us to select it from Display Properties -> Themes. Right ?

And something else....Can anyone tell me step - by - step what can I do for the installation of .suite files ?
I have installed ALL the required programs (Object Desktop & Stardoc Cursor XP & WinCustomize). What else I HAVE TO DO guys ?

Please help, nothing is working !!!

Thank you very much!!!

to use suites this suite manager must be installed ...https://www.stardock.com/products/winstyles/

you can manually apply each apps skin with its coresponding application WindowBlinds skins with Windowblinds/Winamp skins with winamp..etc..

Hello my friend Eliminator.
Thanks for your help!

...but i have installed it (Winstyle) !

So,
I have downloaded the Cyberskin. I select it, i right-click, I select Apply Theme.
It opens the Display Properties in the TAB Suites ! ...right ?
The Cyberskin is selected. I choose Apply and a Pop UP program opens and says
"Would you like to apply the Cyberskin suite?"
I click YES, the program is closing and... nothing is happened !

What is that ? What I can do ?

Thank you very much !

ok let me reiterate a theme is a group of application skins grouped together for ease of use ... a theme usually contains the following skins windowblinds, iconpackager, windows mediaplayer.. depending on the theme there may be more skins or less skins (each theme varies).. each of the programs you intend to skin must also be installed on your PC...for instance window blinds ..to use the windowblinds skin in a theme, windowblinds must be installed...

to use a theme. download the theme and save......now open display properties....select the suites tab..if the theme is not in the dropdown menu.. select add/remove. in the popup menu select add new .. in the window that opens go to the folder on your HDD where you saved the file and select it and hit open...the theme should now appear in the drop down menu in the display properties window..select the thme you want and hit the apply button at the bottom right of the window .. it will apply any skins in the theme that your pc has the programs for ...

this should be all that is needed...

I had just download theme manager just before seeing this post. I have been playing with it for a few hours.
Seems most suites contain url links for skins used. When apply shows it is downloading but is not. I made
a suite by search WC to have url info in theme. As soon as save try to apply, nothing. It is suppose to
download files needed? Downloaded a 5 meg suite 4 of 6 parts in it, when apply WB and Icon not downloaded
therefore not applied. Is there a problem with url links. Made a suite using WB, Logon etc I have, applied
fine, other than copying files to themes, can use to apply just WB so is linked to everything, so why does
have to copy files, my stardock folder is already 1.13 gig, don't want it bigger with same files.

Hello guys. Hey, Eliminator, thanks again once for your help !

...but the way that tou told me, I did it again and again and again !!!!!

I have the SAME problem with Cavan1. When I click Apply, it shows that is downloading skins etc etc etc, and at the end of the downloading, none of them not installed.

What else can I do to install a .suite ?

As I can see, I do not so many people to have this problem. Why only me ?

Can you help me ?

Thank you very much!

* Ah, I have downloaded and installed ALL the programs from the "Software" TAB in this Site
(https://www.wincustomize.com/software.aspx)

So, what other is it missing my friends ?

im wondering if that the suites were built useing links from the old site and if they are no longer valid ...many may need to be updated....

I have been having the same problem! After I download a suite, I open it with theme manager, apply it, and nothing happens. After I try to apply it, all of the files disapear, and the suite no longer even shows anything when I open "Advanced". It's just blank. So far, this only happens to themes that download directly. I am not sure about the zip files though, because I don't know how to apply them yet. Sorry, I'm a newbie, so help with installing zip files w/ all of the components seperate would help too. I tried the "changing them from .zip to .suite to .theme" trick with no luck.

Thanks in advance for any help.

im thinking that many of the suites were built useing links from the old site .. and the themes may not have working links to the skins any more.

I just downloaded a suite that worked, it was 3.4 meg so included all skins used. It saved suite in theme manager
but also saved WB in WB folder and IP in IP folder. A 3.4 meg download is now 6.8 meg on hd. Since it is linked to
store files can theme manager just not use that link to apply needed WB etc from their own folders instead of
saving the same files as a .suite file. As I said above I have 1.13 gig skins etc saved. Around 60 WB, 60 IP,
and even more Logon, Bootskins, Cursors and approx. 275 walls. If I start making suites for personnal use I could easily double or triple that 1.13 gig, which does not make snese for files I already have.

Playing with this some more, cut and pasted url from suite .ini got correct download so is not a problem with url. Was able to download WB and IP this way. Tried to apply same suite with theme manager does not download anything.

I've just tried Cyberskin to see what the problems is - it downloaded and installed perfectly. Are you using the latest version of Theme Manager?
