Are we getting there?

Faster..Faster..FASTER!

Friday, December 10, 2004 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Okay guys, after two marathon days of coding, the IT team and myself have been working on getting the speed on WinCustomize to be better. Is it feeling better yet? Does the site feel peppier?

Speed has improved 10 fold. Hasn't takes more that 15 sec. at the slowest.

My profile says I have user level 3 "Level 3: Past Stardock Customer", But I'm a ODNT subscriber and have allso bought OD plus not too long ago. Shouldn't I be level 4 then?

When I click on "quote" on any comment, the textbox only says [ quote][ /quote] (without the spaces), but does not include the text of the comment I want to quote.

And the reply button for any comment doesn't seem to have any effect at all.

Today is like Juan Pablo Montoya or Allan Mcnish. Yesterday was like a turtle stuck in molasses with a lead vest on. In other words, MUCH BETTER. Thanks guys. I also want to know who the behind the scenes, coffee drinking, up all night, masters that have tolerated the ignorant abuse while they have slaved to make this site happen correctly, are. They deserve a big round of applause and a long vacation for their great efforts.

~Well I can finally have a positive comment. The site is moving a lot faster than it has been. I was able to upload to my " current desktop " in account info..but still get " Alert: File contains no data " when I try to upload a screen shot 6 days in a row. Today it said " server timed out " So thats progress.....

"It's getting better all the time...with a little help from my friends"
- To coin a phrase from the Beatles.

Marked improvement over the last 48 hours, nice job so far, people!!!

I am looking forward to uploading at least a screenshot this weekend to test the upstream capabilities.

Can't wait till the whole thing is solid.

Very good to hear.

We're not done with speed improvements, not by a long shot. But the site was unusably slow before. Now we can focus for a few days fixing bugs and making some usability changes for going back and tackling more speed improvements.

Also, like Gef, I have had problems uploading to the site so that's going to be the next thing.
