Are we getting there?

Faster..Faster..FASTER!

Friday, December 10, 2004 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Okay guys, after two marathon days of coding, the IT team and myself have been working on getting the speed on WinCustomize to be better. Is it feeling better yet? Does the site feel peppier?

It looks wonderful, but it still seems to be a tag sluggish loading up.

I cannot upload anything. I have been trying to upload a theme for two days now without any success.

Just a thought, can themes be uploaded in a zipped file? - it actually says .dxtheme.

........ all you show-offs with broadband, can stop laughing now.

I'm in the same league. People on broadband or cable might have to wait 2 seconds for a page to load. We, on the other side of the fence, need the speed. It's much better now. Close to the old site.
To me speed is the #1 issue with me (on any site). Some times I'll turn down a site that takes more that 2 min. to load.
I'm a country boy and we might get cable out here in the year 2050. (Maybe). So until I get sattelite, I have a need for speed.

Well, this is what we get when we click on DeviantART under Community:

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

It's faster but there are a couple of issues, the main one is Firefox support which causes a problem with downloads. In fact I can't download anything using Firefox, only IE6. This is a bit of a pain because Internet Explorer has more security issues than the CIA but that said, the site look so much cooler.
