Creating Wallpaper

I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times but I am brand new to this, and I'd like to make my own wallpaper. I have Photshop, but have never used it. How can I get started?

In anticipation of you're being told to read the manual and practice until your fingers bleed - I'll give you what seems to be a good all round Photoshop site that may have one or two useful tips.
