Stardock and Expose'

Thursday, November 25, 2004 by flipdoubt | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I wonder what it would take to get Stardock to write an Expose' clone for Windows. Maybe if we make enough clamour?

There's one out there called Winplosion. It's still very early and not 100% accurate yet, still a bit rough. but it does do an emulation of Exposé in XP.
It's shareware and you the site is here:

If we were to code a fancy taskswitching feature, it would most likely be part of WindowFX.

Hi Neil. That is just where I thought it might go. Can we do anything to encourage this?

what can Expose do that can't be done with windows' taskbar?
The functional aspect, that is.

I don't really care for fancy special effects that serve no purpose

Funny, because the first time I saw that I thought, "Oh my gosh, that is sooo practical I want it." I can see how a separate component/utility might end up being a resource hog, but it seems useful to me to see all the apps tiled like that.

but windows task bar can already do "Cascade Windows", "Tile Windows Horizontally", "Tile Windows Vertically", "Show Desktop" and "Undo Cascade/Tile/Minimize All" .....

Expose looked useful on a Mac, because the Mac never had a taskbar

OK, so the animations are cool... but whatever

Yeah, I see what you mean. I suppose I could use KeyboardLaunchPad to do the same thing, but what are the command lines for the items you've listed above? Anybody?

If you use the taskbar functions of Cascade Windows, or Tile Windows..... get ready to reposition and resize all of your open windows.

I want to give it a try first, but I can't find anything on the command-line syntax for "show desktop", "tile windows", ect.
