| They really are VERY good to us you know. |
I figured that would be the case BoXXi but I am glad to read it.
Well deserved for all the work you all put into the site.

Hey BoXXi, how did you get all those things? I don't have any of these!!!!

Hehehe! Just kidding.
We are very well treated by Stardock. No money (which I wouldn't want anyway), but lots of little gifts, as I said in #7's last line.

But how about stashing any of the extra cash.
Who knows when the next server will blow up.

WC doesn't have extra cash.
The idea behind the top 20 skinners was that it would create an incentive for more people to buy subscriptions. We think that more people would buy subscriptions if they knew that some of it was going to the top skinners. We also think it would increase the number of quality skins and themes being made.

It's kinda the same as the admins. We skin because we love it. I'm not a master skinner by any stretch, and skinning for me IS hard work even for my Winamp classic skins, but seeing my work on here and the comments, sparse as they are make it all worthwhile.
Just MHO

The 'economic' model that Frogboy proposed would certainly work, of that I have no doubt.
What doesn't appear to work is the discussion about it, where everyone [almost] appears to lose the plot...
This is simply 'promotional advertising' where increased custom benefits all, not just the 'company'.&nbsp Think of it as a 'productivity bonus' that rewards the 'staff'....even those who may not receive the bonus this time can feel positively towards the 'company' for those that did, and that they too might in future.
The community as a whole would benefit....and that SHOULD be a 'good thing'...

| #18 by Admin Jafo - 10/5/2004 6:35:08 PM Chas....what I do to make money never started out as a hobby....it started out as a career choice. 32 years ago it [Architecture] was a significantly different animal to what beaurocracy has devolved it into these days....to the point that I couldn't honestly recommend it to future eager prospects. |
I agree!!! Architecture isn't what I thought it would be nor what it actually should be either.
I still want to to it one day... maybe.
Technology is a hobby that turned into a career that I would like to be in.

Preparation is necessary in any career choice. And while you were learning about cars (however you did it), I bet no one was paying you.
Chemistry was my career choice. But, no one paid me will I was studying in school. Then, it was just a hobby. While I was a kid, playing with my chemistry sets, it was just a hobby.
kewl, that is nice to hear. You're an okay guy, Froggy.
