Old Crab asks who is your favorite comedian?

Thursday, July 8, 2004 by Old_Crab | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Did I spell that rite? Who cares? Anyway, I looking for input on who is your favorite comedian. No troupes, shows, Monty Python, TV, or movies. Just folks craking a few jokes. I've never found anyone who could really make my sides hurt. Of course there's Soupy Sales. Anyway............... >

I like different comedians for different reasons.
Dry,thinking humour-John Cleese
Story style humour- Bill Cosby,Gracie Allen(my all time favorite ever)
Edgy and cynical humour-George Carlin
unfit for mixed company humour- Rodney Carrington(you can't stop laughing no matter how embarrassing the subject)
silly giggle till you wet yourself humour- Bill Engval
zany slapstick, odd situational humour-Lucille Ball,Charlie Chaplin no one can ever match the comedy these two created.
I guess , like I said before If I had to pick just one, it'd be Gracie Allen. Her timing was flawless and her deadpan way of delivery was unmatchable.
Say Good Night Gracie...
G'Nite Gracie..

In no particular order:

Eddie Izzard
Robert Schimmel
Rita Rudner
Robin Williams
George Carlin
Bill Cosby

Among others, the above have had me on the floor at least once.

Uncle Milty!!!! Please don't forget him!!! Bill Cosby and Jeff Foxworthy... Mainly because of the "Clean Joke" content. Not really into the harder comdideans... though Robin Williams and Dennis Leary are good.

Sometimes Dennis Miller can be pathetically hilarious.

Other times he is just aggrevating.

I know I left out some, but to me if you can't make someone laugh without cussing then your not much of a comedian. Those old comics could do that and to me thats what made them great.

Amen to that WOM! Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Abbott & Costello, Victor Borge, they are all past masters at the art of funny! Without any profanity or vulgarity they could make you laugh. I also enjoy Tim Conway & Bob Newhart are funny too....slightly different, though.
