You ever had a really rough tough boss? Ex-Cop and Ex- Fireman too?
Was he a yeller??? A screamer???
That who my boss is. about 2 days ago he belittled me in front of my supervisor, yelled at me, and raised his hand at me (for some reason... I can't remember what he was trying to say).
He basically said it was for my own good...
That was 2 days ago.

JTB- This person has an anger and control problem. My boss would only 'raise his hands' to me once before I would be taking action against them. >

You need to call him on it.....demand a conference with the witnesses included and speak your mind. If you don't then you are leaving yourself open for incident #2 which may be in private and may involve violent contact. I would also prepare and present a grievance and have all involved sign it at the conference including your offending and offensive boss. Draw the line. If he steps over it again he's got more than a little bit of a problem...you have a right to be treated fairly and without undue duress. If your superior has a problem with your performance or conduct it should be addressed in a professional manner! >

Allot of people do not like him there because of his ability to be quick to anger.
And I mean anger.
I called the job to find out who I should speak to. I decided that I would 'write him up' for this action. Did I mention that he obtusely threatened me by stating that he has himself covered and don't play games with him (or don't start any) because he will win?

No he didn't strike me, but his hand was about 4-5 inches from my face... I am so shocked I guess, that I didn't realize it until today... 2 days later.
Did I mention that he was in a fighting stance when he did it???
Did I tell you that he has a witness.... my supervisor (who drinks heaviely... even at work... AT WORK) was there too? He didn't say anything.
Apparently the Director has him in his pocket.

Sounds like this isnt a place you want to keep working at.

In a legal document such as dealing with this. Do NOT put that in there, word it as being an "aggressive stance". If it came to going to court, his lawyer would assassinate you posing the question asking if you are a "professional" as in martial arts teacher etc.

Wow! Really? I never thought of that. This whole thing has got me bugged out. I feel that he is the type of guy who would want revenge or something. And he is legally allowed to carry a gun too in NYC.

A Bully will always resort to threats. This man can clearly not be trusted. Who doses he think he is? Who cares. He relises on yours and others fears. There is only one way to deal with this. Write a full report out and take it as far as is needed. You owe this to yourself. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Report this venirate bully.

A lawyer may also be able to present it the same as a sexual harrassment lawsuit. The same way someone would use a woman's fears against her, he is using fear to control you. Don't think he is gonna change either.

I tend to think that if you only 'get out now' you are leaving this belligerent vicious jerk to take out his temper on another innocent victim. Of course it's up to you to decide what you want to do and to measure how much is worth what when it comes to making a living and risking your health and well-being over it.....laws differ in different places.....do you have any kind of 'employee handbook' or other documentation that you may have received upon hire that outlines the protocols exercised by your company? If so....are you able to research it and to find the appropriate article that can serve to apply to your situation as a defense? If not, you are obviously distressed by the situation and may still be able to file a civil suit for harrassment and threat of bodily harm. You have to decide yourself how upset you are...how threatened you really felt....and feel.....and decide for yourself if this was an isolated incident that you think will not re occur ....or that you indeed feel as if there is imminent danger to your position and your person that makes you unable to perform your duties and in fear for your personal safety. It's ultimately up to you to ascertain and disseminate accurately the occurances, record them...and reflect upon them. If you deem it necessary then you need to act according to the due processes of your company...or if you feel seriously threatened....the law.
Think on it....your decision will affect not only your job...but your credibility as a prospective employee to any other company......also....
I'm sorry you had to go through it....it's a terrible thing to be threatened in a way that could either harm you physically or financially...both can be devastating.

All they above is the main factors as to why I laid in the hospital bed for the first time in my life at the age of 29. I didn't quit because it was the first job I had in almost 2 years. I wanted to get my life back together after an incident 4 years ago caused me to loose my job (and other things) I wanted to help my Mom pay bills and my sister to live better.

Oh... and I seem to have an aversion to bullies. Every fight I had was with one except one person (and I don't remember who that was).
