Radeon vs nvidia

I just got a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, how does that compare to the nvidia ones?

the higher end apples typically use ATI, the lower priced machines use the geforce.. though they have toggled back and forth between the two for many years now. last year's lead models (in the dual proc g4s and in at least the top two of thre three g5's) were ati 9600's (or 9200?). i havn't see nthe new g5's yet but i had thought they were radeon.
