Radeon vs nvidia

I just got a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, how does that compare to the nvidia ones?

I can tell you that the Radeon 9800 Pro works extremely well with WindowFX, while the nVidia drivers don't handle it so well. I suppose it depends on what you intend to use it for though. Both have their pros and cons. I recently switched from a GeForce 4 5800 Ultra to a Radeon 9800 Pro and I have no regrets.

ATI cards are good but their customer service will leave a bad taste in your mouth. I am currently running a older nvidia card. Gforce2 MX 200.

Didn't mean to be such a smart-ass earlier. I think Kona said it, I love my ATI card, but support leaves a lot to be desired.

Nvidia has no customer support at all.
If you try to get customer support for your Gforce2 MX 200, you will find that the only support available is from the manufacturer that sold you the computer with the card.

I know this!! Be that as it may I didn't get the card from a PC manufactuer but I got it off of ebay for dirt cheap. Beats the crap out of my 8 meg card.

I had a 32MB Nvidia card that crashed just after 2 years. Just after my warranty expired. I found a website where everyone complained about how their Nvidia cards suffered this exact same problem. I think if you saw that website, you wouldn't champion Nvidia. These people seemed very happy with their newly purchased ATI cards. So far, so have I. But, I'll wait two more years, and I'll never buy Nvidia again. I'll just wait for ATI to catch up, and then I'll buy their card which will probably be faster anyway.

Well maybe the new Nvidia cards will last longer. Many computer makers are turning from Nvidia because of the past problems. All you can do is cross your fingers, I guess.

now, terry, having gone through the ATI tebacle we both just went through, and having found all of the information i needed and thus finding out the card is functional, i would say ATI has done extreemly well with its support. 
ive had less problems on my radeon machines then on my geforce.

I personnaly dont know any game playing apple users.

better stability, faster processor. but really, if you already bought the ati.. theres nothing to compare
and, really.. youd have to be more spacific about what nvidia to compare it against
