Really thought about quitting for awhile. Now it''s time to take action. I know it''s mostly a mental thing. So with the help of my friends here and a diet of Vitamin C to help keep cravings down, I have been smoke free for 5 hours now. That''s the longest I have ever gone while awake that I can remember. I know I can do this. I believe in myself. Thanks everyone for the support.

Jolly Ranchers....Go to Costco and get a couple bags. Just make sure you brush your teeth like 5 times a day

WG: maybe we can rely on each other to keep ourselves in line.

China: Thank you I didn''t think of that. So far no hard cravings. Like I said I was ready for this. It''s a mental game now.

Kona...I tried quitting once before as well, but at the time it wasn't because I wanted to quit, it was because everyone was bugging me about it. And at that time I tried using the NicodermCQ patches and I have to say that they would have actually worked had I been mentally ready to quit, they really took the edge off.

If you should think about it and decide to try them, make sure you don't apply one right after taking a shower and your pores are wide open...not a good thing. And I would also apply them just before going to bed so that during the night they start working, and when you wake up in the morning you don't have a strong craving. Drink lots of water as well, if you can deal with it keep some celery handy. I also heard that mixing a tablespoon "cream of tartar" with orange juice helps flush out a good bit of nicotine to give ou a jump start.

Also, don't expect to see immediate changes...you will see some, but it takes awhile to see anything significant. But rest assured the changes will come. The longest I've gone without smoking was about 2 weeks...this time "it will" be for good. And you can always feel free to write if you need to vent.

I quit for 3 months about 2 years ago, then started again, but never as much as I smoked before. Anyway, I'm going for it again, and this time it's for good. I'm starting week 8 tomorrow.  BTW: I'm using the patch, and it makes it much easier.  Don't get me wrong, I still get cravings, but they're not as bad and don't last as long.

I'm confident this time is for good.  Good luck to you too Kona.
