Tried that and it did not work. Rebooted just in case and still the same. I have WinFX and it has an option to do it but it is not working either??
Really annoying me. I would love to fix this.

What I have done in the meantime, is to use Icon X as part of my Desktop X theme. The transparent text problem and the icon mask problem disappeared. I haven't given up on trying to solve the problem, but so far no luck after fighting it for a month.

Yeah I can get it to work if I use IconX from DesktopX but that is a bit overkill.
I am thinking of uninstalling all stardock products except SDC and starting from scratch. Anyone else any great ideas before I head down this route???

Sometine ther are other option in XP (under the Advanced Tab) that interfere with the icon text transparency.
Best way is under the Advanced tab, select the "Let Windows..." option, then select just the Drop Shadows option, and then click ok, it should work

Unloaded WinFX, set not to start at boot. rebooted.
Set let Windows chose and selected the Drop Shadows option. rebooted.
Still the same.
Keep the ideas coming folks, someone somewhere must have the answer.

hit winkey+pause/break to bring up your sys information window, and go to the 'advanced' tab. under performance, click 'settings'. make sure the option for 'use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop' is checked. it drop shadows your icons which can be annoying on really light colored backgrounds, but it makes the text lables see-through.
someone can probobly tell you if winfx can do this for non xp computers, or if winfx can replace the windows built-in option.
my own question: anyone wunna write a script that lets you color icon lables like on mac os 9? thnx.
