LCD Monitors and Wives

Yesturday I had the opportunity to work on my boss' computer (she has a 17 inch LCD monitor, I have a 17 inch CRT monitor), and I was BLOWN AWAY! The sharpnes, the clarity, even on tiny type was excellent. My question is: How do I convence my wife (who thinks of a computer as just a tool) that $400 or so dollars is NOT unreasonable for a monitor?
Any good reasons, advices (is that a word?), or rationales will be appreciated.

i dunno what youre smokin ( i can guess) but i dont hafta pretend. i got my 17 inch for 20 bucks and i am amazed at it.

Alas, my dreams of LCD bliss are not to be. Yesturday, as I sat down to dinner, she said, "The car is making a funny noise." Well, needless to say, I didn't find the noise the car was making funny at all. Especially since the noise is related to bad crankshaft bearings. 
Thus no el cee dee. Well it was a beautiful dream while it lasted.
