Poll: 3000 votes and the winner is...

Wednesday, January 7, 2004 by joetheblow | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I don't even see the bars for the other catagories.

How much would you be willing to pay for 200 premium themes/skins/icon packages/etc. per year?

Apparently 200 premium skins from the best artists doesn't mean anything.

Anyway, I'm off to lurk the message board again.

I dont think I would pay that much for them. $19.95 is resonable I think. But it jut proves the point: If people can get something free, they will.

I don't know... I just find it amazing that after all these votes the only thinkg I see is 9,95 and free on the bars.

No wait 19.95 is there in its infancy... I wonder how many votes is that... 400?

Me 3, 29.95 for 200 skins = 15¢ each.

Gimee a break! The skinners deserve SOMETHING for their talent and time.

Just my 2¢ worth,
Jeff

Well 29.95 is not UNreasonable. But I think the most you could get alot of people to pay would be $19.95.

maybe look closer on things, using simple math, and approximations (based soley on this poll) out of 3922 people

600 would be willing to pay 10 bucks, thats 6000
500 would be willing to pay 20 bucks, thats 10,000 (note that with less people you still make more)
250 would be willing to pay 30 bucks, thats 7500
75 would be willing to pay 40 bucks, there's 3000
and 125 would be willing to pay 50, thats 6250

so judging by this poll alone, about 60% of the people would be willing to pay nothing if they didn't have to, want to, or see something they couldn't live without.

the other 40% would market a value of 32,750 and that doesn't seem at all bad to me. Premium skins could be looked at like this, they are the mercades of cars. Now about everybody has a car, but not many people have a mercades. But the company doesn't say, well guys, most people don't buy our car, lets just call it quits. Instead they realize what percentage of people is their "market" and sell to those, and as you can tell are doing quite well. in the premium skin case, it looks like about 40% of our users are the market and those are the one's we need to worry about.

Also I think if the people "KNEW" what they were voting on it would be a lot different. The words "premium skins" doesn't hold as much merit as actually seeing them and saying, I want that and would pay for it, or I don't want that and am not.

29.95 for 200 skins = 15¢ each.

Most people won't see the value in that because they really won't find 200 skins that they would use. I think people would be more willing to pay 9.95 for a smaller selection of skins that they would use. "Select up to 50 premium skins, themes, icon packages for only 9.95 from a collection of 200" would be more saleable pitch.

I voted $19.95, based on the fact that a lot of people are doing it tough, with the poor economy etc.

However, I too would be willing to pay $29.95 for 200 premiums skins. A lot of hard work goes in to them, and there are some very talented folk putting these skins together.

Only fitting that the artists are rewarded for that hard work too!

Eh I'd rather pay for each skin or suite than even 9.99 for 200 preminum skins. I would end up downloading only 3 or 4.

Maybe something like 10 to 20 cents each. You could buy as many as you wanted. Maybe 4 or 5. Maybe all 200.

The 6th option 'Zero' shouldn't be there. You're talking about selling a premium package and of course the majority would choose 'nothing'. Why pay, when you can get it for free? See what I'm sayin?

Currently, the subscription is 20$, and you get TWO premium suites - which are really not that nice compared to the ones I'm sure we'd get from the Masters of this site.
So, if I get the poll results right, people are ready to pay LESS to get MORE???? Like this is going to happen! Thanks for support!

Anyway, the way it was suggested - still just a mere possibility - would be to keep the current cheap subscription, with no or just a few included premium suite, PLUS offer the ones who want more the possibility to pay more to get more.

MIT Review ran an write up on Micro Payment sales on the net and how it will be a driving force in the next generation of INTERNET sales because people are more likely to pay a small fee for a single item on a continuous basis than see any benefit in paying a larger fee for a wide range of items.

Odd really when you add it all up they would in the end spend more for less in many if not most cases and not even see it...

But it is the new trend to watch and consider I would guess...

Maybe they would rather have it a pay as you go system. Only pay for the ones you want. Heck, I don't know.

I think it would work better that way, and would be much more suitable for the masters getting paid to get paid when it gets downloaded, not paid here and there on some type of average

Reminds me of cigarette sales.
