Why don't you get a Mac when you seem to think it's so much better? This is a customization site, we like to customize our PC's including the dock - so why spend time making it look like another system? OD is perfect as an alternate quick launch.

Aqua Dock is a shameless rip off of Y'zDock with modified resources. So, basically it's Y'zDock and Y'zDock may no longer be distributed. Object Dock is still alive (and is much smoother on my machine when doing animations than Y'zD.).
And btw, Y'zDock does use GDI and GDI+ instead of DirectX. MobyDock is the one that is using DirectX.

Please dude, just about everyone here knows of the existance of other programs. Most have try or are using other program instead of OD. So dont come here posting about how your oppinion and your "programing" knowledge are more validated .

On one, its as smooth as silk because the video card and drivers are up to the job, on the other, the pathetic old video card and drivers make it jumpy and look poor. I wouldn't blame OD for that though as that machine just isn't happy with it.
I've read your other comments on the other threads, and all you're "claims" to be an expert, but when the experiences of others disagrees with your wild assertions, maybe it's time for you to re-assess the strength of your evidence and accept that (as with a lot of software) milage varies depending on your requirements and platform.
Personnaly, if I want an Aqua-ish launch and task bar, then OD works for me....I'm not looking for it to be look or behave exactly like Apple's, and being skinnable and relatively configurable, OD meets my requirements. On suitable hardware/software it runs like a charm, I've never had crashes caused by it, it's hosted (written?) by a company I've come to respect through using their other software, and it's free. Seems like a winner all round in my book.
Of course, if your particular set up works better with something else, that's entirely up to you - that's the joy of skinning isn't it, to be able to decide how things look and work on your own set up?

connor_roberts : As already stated : AquaDock IS Y'ZDock blatantly ripped (if not really stolen). Get Your facts right before promoting any software and talking crap like this. I have had all 3 docks on my system and ObjectDock was the one to stay. Now You can guess why ?

Regardless of what's better, what's stolen or not, I don't think anyone has the right to hold ObjectDock's bugginess or lack thereof against StarDock (although it would be nice if that update I keep seeing would not fail every time!).
Fact: Stardock gives ObjectDock away for FREE and does not offer official support for it. They can leave it is buggy as they want, it doesn't matter - you didn't pay for it. If, on the other hand, it's ObjectBar's bugs you want to complaina bout - that's different. They expect money for that.

Me thinks he's never changed the ObjectDock settings. There are various quality settings in it.
I'm not sure why he thinks we should sweat it. Oh no, he's dissing one freeware program over another.

Well, maybe a little late to contribute to the topic ... what a novel idea
but I installed Object Dock right after getting here. Haven't taken it off since. Put it on my machine at work. Great program and does what I need it to.
Ironically, I downloaded Y'z Dock right before it .. ah .. disappeared, but somehow never got around to installing it.

I really like Object Dock myself. I just wish that I could use it more. I would like it to be a permanent addition to my desktop. But, it uses too much memory. Sure, there are better settings that slightly improve the memory usage, but at the loss of visual quality. Maybe if it used more of the DirectX drawing methods, and less of the GUI drawing methods, it would probably be better.
Also, it tends to continue to use memory, until you have none. And it locks up sometimes or lags terribly. This is especially true with all the great additions available to it. Such as the Weather Object. Come on everyone, sure Obj. Dock is good, but it has quite a way to go.
It is just like the BootScreen. They are both great programs, don't misunderstand me. But, they are still in the development stages. The problem is that when they are both fully developed, I doubt if they will still be freeware.

Also, I would never use YZ Dock. I'm stuck/struck with Stardock Programs. I'll just wait for the next version of Object Dock and hope it gets better.

I have no memory leak problem with Object Dock, then again, I don't use the weather docklet. I think the leak comes from the Weather object, not the dock program itself. I could be wrong though.
Object Dock runs without much problems for the need I have. And I can't think of a dock being of any use without a taskbar. It's a must have. Only one bug I have: the apps in the taskbar sometime won't restore when clicked, I have to Alt-Tab to bring them back. But that's relatively minor and it doesn't happen very often.
