How come nobody has a Celron processor?

What is so bad about them? It comes from the same company as the Pentium. I know its the lower standard but for normal computing isn't ok to use?
I need to buy a computer sooner than I thought because the one I am currently using is dead and dying. I don't think it will last the 3 months I will need to save up for the computer I really want.
Anyway, so what's wrong with a Celron? My sister has one and it seems fine.
Help!!!????

My old computer that I was still using until last week is a Celeron. I have no complaints about it other than it was very old a dreadfully slow. It was some 5 years old, a Celeron 333 or something like that. Never had a complaint about it, ran very well.

The main difference between Celerons and P4's is the Bus speed and L2 cache. A P4 has 512kb L2 cache while the Celeron only has 128kb. The newer P4's have a 533mhz FSB while the Celeron is at 400mhz. Also the newer P4's have 2mb L3 cache and Hyper-Transport blah blah...so basically it's a matter of performance. If I were you Joe, I would look at the Athalons rather than the Celeron's...you will probably get more for your money...

pins are not different. But the celeron lacks the perfomance of the P4 and the hyperthreading as well.
actually they have a 800 mhz fsb (hyperthreading) ask jafo he knows.

I was thinking about the AMD but I don't have an account with any company that sells them.
My Mom is going to help me out with her Dell account so I am pretty much stuck with Dell (not that its bad, Dell makes some good computers)
I just need the cheapest computer to hold me for the next year until I can buy what I want. The Celrons seam to be ok but I hardly EVER here anyone talk about them.
I know I am buying a piece of junk computer but I want it to be the best piece of junk.

I have a Centrino on my laptop, which is much better than a celeron. Wireless internet, woot.

Also I want it to run WindowBlinds, DesktopX (relativly smooth), and SkinStudio along with Photoshop.
I am going to need those programs in order to do my projects. So I figured I need 256 RAM.
I had a Pentuim 3 500mhz with 256 RAM and everything ran nicely. (and that was 2 years ago)
So I figured a Celron could do the job since it has been years since the last time I checked it out. If I end up with a Pentuim I know I don't need the fastest.

Intel made one 3.06Ghz cpu with 533MHz with hyperthreading before jumping to 800mhz. I know I'm one of the idiots that bought it

Performance for price...I'd go AMD. Doesn't Dell sell some computers with AMD CPU's?

Isn't Dell offering a $600 Dimension 2400 with a P4, CD-burner and LCD flatpanel upgrade? Excuse me for watching TV =P
I Got my dimension 2350 in May and its great, I have a P4 though, couldn't live without it. My grandma has the same computer with a Celeron and I'm scared as to how long it takes to open that start menu..heh

I just installed a 2.5 GHz Celeron last weekend, upgraded from a 1.1 GHz AMD Duron and all I have to say is WOW! What a difference. I am very pleased with it. I have 768 MB of DDR 2700 RAM and I think my comp is flying. I used to have trouble with Desktop X and now I don't. They are extremely cheap and well worth the money.
