WB & Skinstudio Activation problem

Monday, October 16, 2023 by gsgolfer | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I have been a subscriber for years.  Running latest Win10, and Windowblind 10, until recently when I removed WB10 and installed Windowblind 11 from Object Desktop, which is paid until next year.  Any time I go to open a Desktop app, like Skinstudio, it asks for activation, WB does the same.  I followed the online advice, and deleted the WB file found in ProgramData/Stardock, and noted it in my cleaner, yet it still keeps asking for Activation.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Did you activated WB11? If yes, did you installed Skinstudio 11? Have you tried uninstalled Skinstudio 10 before installing Skinstudio 11?

Thanks

Yes, activated WB11.  Did NOT install Skinstudio, as it's not listed in OBDT?  This morning, the activate dialog shows up, but now I can't input my activation number???

I don't think you need to activate Skinstudio. From what I know, Skinstudio will just look to see if you have WB11 installed. And it should work normally if you have WB11 installed. If you see something different. Please post screenshot of what error popup when you try to run Skinstudio 11? You should able to download Skinstudio directly from your Product account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Thank you,

I uninstalled Skinstudio.  Now, it's not listed in my OBDT and can't find the link to download it.  The only option I found was a Buy option.

Have you tried that link I gave above? If your Object Desktop still active Skinstudio should be listed in there.

I wanted to say I have the same issue.  WB11 is activated and works just fine until I launch SkinStudio.  SkinStudio will have me re-activate it every time I launch it.  And after launching SkinStudio, it makes me re-activate WindowBlinds also.

SkinStudio will have me re-activate it every time I launch it.
Let's start with this one: There is no activation for SkinStudio, so what do you see that makes you think so? A screenshot would be helpful.

What version of SkinStudio do you have installed?

I do NOT have Skinstudio 11 listed in OD nor Skinstudio 10.1.  I happen to have the Skinstudio Exe 10.1 installation program.

Even after I delete the above referenced WB file in ProgramData Stardock, still Skinstudio wants to activate WB by putting in my activation #.   WB won't install Window blinds, either, it freezes.

I just uninstalled WB 11 and Skinstudio 10.1.  Rebooted and reinstalled WB 11 from OD, seems to be working.  However, I have NO Skinstudio and don't know where to get it????  As I said, it's not listed on my OD and it should be.

Hello,

If your subscription is active, you should have Skinstudio and Windowblinds listed in there. Refer my screenshot below.

If it does not appear, please raise support ticket using the link below, use the product not receive option. Include all information details. Remember to record down the ticket number for future reference if needed. Do not raise multiple ticket, that will make your ticket back to the end of the line. Send once and wait. Ticket will be answer by the order they send in.

Okay, this is what I get EVERYTIME I launch Skin Studio from Windowblinds.  Originally when I clicked on "Edit style in SkinStudio", it wouldn't bring up SkinStudio at all.  So I posted this problem in the forums.  They suggested that I download SkinStudio...

https://forums.stardock.com/504027/page/1/#3801283

I followed the instructions and now it will bring up the activation window for Windowblinds everytime I click on "Edit style in SkinStudio", I will put in my activation information, then SkinStudio will come up.  Then, after I'm done with SkinStudio, when I bring up Windowblinds, it again makes me re-activate it.  Then it will stay active until I try to launch SkinStudio again

One question, did you by any chance installed WB11 in different location other than its default location?

Thank you,

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Okay, ignore what I said. I double checked the steps and realized I downloaded skinstudio 10.  I went through the steps again and made sure to download the correct one, and now it works.  It no longer asks me to reactivate WB.  Thank you for your help!!!

I had the same problem when I reverted to Win 10. I reinstalled WB 10 and Skinstudio 10 and the registration problem with SKIN STUDIO disappeared. So if you are on Win 11, Install WB 11 and Skin Studio 11. Problem should disappear.

Do a complete purge of both WB and Skin studio. Important to reboot after each purge. Install Wb11, reboot. Install Skin Studio, reboot.

I put in a support ticket.  Support quickly responded, showed me where to find my complete product list including Skin Studio 11.  I downloaded it, cleaned system of 10, rebooted and installed Skin Studio 11, all works properly.

To those here that offered assistance, thank you!
