What kind of cars do you like? (That includes trucks too if you want)
My personal dream cars are:
Chrysler 300M (or the Concorde)
I might actually get that ^^^ one in a few years.
Other dream cars include:
Volvo XC90
Nissan Z
Cadilac Escalade (SUT pick-up)
Infinity FX45
Aston Martin DB8 (or the Vanquish)
I am also thinking about getting some toy cars. One of them is this one:

Yep, a new Z. I listed the 350Z convertible
For one of the current crop of new cars, that'd be right up there on the top of the list (It'd be a close call with the Z4, but the Nissan costs quite a bit less).
I listed cars that I figured I could *possibly* have a chance to acquire (therefore no McLaren F1 or Ferrari F50, etc.), however a *true* wishlish would have those in it for sure
.
If I wanted a truck, I'd probably go with a Dodge, a friend of mine has one, very nice!

The car industry is multi-national .... and people who 'think' buy the best that suits their needs.
American manufactured cars (more or less) suit the market in America .... bring them to a country like England and they don't fit the roads!
Run them anywhere but on a highway in Australia and they disintegrate!
Use one in Germany and people fall about laughing!
Run one around Italy and get blown off by a variety of Vespas and Minicars!
Point to consider ... a Harley is nothing more than a throwback and is usually 'ridden' (in Australia) by middle-aged men undergoing the male menopause.
Serious riders run a Ducati or even better, an Aprilia!
Head cases go for Fireblades and the hard cases run big Kwakas!
The oddballs (with big bucks!)go for the Moto Guzzi LM and the occasional Buell ....
Contrary to the image most Aussie revheads try to project, the bulk of the Ford-GM market in this country are either straight 6 Falcons or V6 Commodores ... NOT hairy V8 beasties!
Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi sell in the upper price slot while such nasty devices Proton, Kia, Hyundai and assorted el cheapo Korean rubbish have their niche.
The biggest curse we have to tolerate are so-called 'People Movers' (one female driver, a pair of primary school age brats, mobile phone in one hand, lipstick in the other) ..... and worse, the 'SUV'.... aka 'Simply Useles Vehicle'!

And a daily driver I'd like to own for those 'road rage days'..... a Hummer .... in 'Urban Camouflage' paint of course!
Current vehicles I detest ... the Mazda RX8, ANY 'Jaguar' produced under Ford ownership, Chrysler's coyote-ugly 'Retro Mobiles', Ford Europe's Ka and Focus .... and all the jelly moulded blobs by Honda, Toyota etc.

You are, however, on the losing end of this argument. There isn't an American car made that I would take over to Germany and see how long it takes me to get run over by 'real' cars on the Autobaun...or anywhere else for that matter...

So its American and its German! The best of both worlds!!!
So you can drive a Dodge and think its a Mercedes and you would be right!

I heard some horror stories about it though and I also heard that maintaining the car cost just as much as buying it. I still like it.
So its American and its German! The best of both worlds!!!

"W.O." never wanted anything to do with them, Tim Birkin (using Dorothy Paget's money!) and Amherst Villiers were behind the 'blowers'.
A decent 6 litre will beat a blower around the ears and do it with less fuss!
My mate with the 1924 3 litre has had an entertaining time with it, in the first year of ownership everything but the battery box broke!
That fell apart in the first week of year two!
The crankshaft snapped(!) on a BOC Rally on a wet Saturday .... replacing it cost as much as a small Audi!
At least the CW&P held out for several months after the new crank was inserted!
That one was expensive .....

The Viper has performed really well in European and American endurance races .... but only when the French Oreca team ran it!
Lancer Evo7s and WRX Scoobies were beating the local Vipers out here!
Mustang and Ferrari .... ... so the Mustang leaks oil like the Exxon Valdiz and is as ugly as a hat full as well!!
We need a smiley for "I'm busting a gut laughing"!

American muscle is the way to go for speed. An owner doesn’t have to worry about taking out the interior of the car or weight reduction unless they are into extremely serious drag racing where the time it takes to blink an eye defines a win or a loss. Parts are cheaper to build on top of what power is already in large American engines. Unlike imports, muscle cars can have stock gears and run low times on the drag strip and have high top end speeds. Imports have to go one way or the other because or the way gearing and torque is set up. A popular thing to do to imports is to put nitrous oxide on them. This is a relatively cheap bolt on that can add 150 horsepower to a car. Small import engines are great to run nitrous on, and turn into quick running engines when nitrous is added. The only catch is that domestic cars can run nitrous too, thus beating the import once again. The story is pretty much the same for new high performance cars. A Lamborghini Diablo is a $250,000 car that must be imported and has to be taken to a shop with a special mechanic. Such shops are rare. Meanwhile a Dodge Viper costs a much lower $80,000. It is slightly faster than the Diablo when both cars are stock. For the price difference, a Viper can be modified to do anything better than the Lambo. A Lambo has few modifications left to be done though. The factory pushes this car to its limits from the factory, which makes it unreliable on top of all else. Once again the American car wins as a performance car over the import.
Imports are the new “fad”. Kids usually don’t want to buy old cars; they want the newest thing out. They don’t realize that if they are looking for performance, American cars are the way to go. Too much money is wasted just trying to get an import to run even with a small American V8. Nitrous, turbochargers, superchargers and blowers are all ways to add much more horsepower to engines. The catch is that these modifications can be done just as easily to already strong running American cars as they can to imports. Some think imported cars are fast because they are so small and lightweight, this just isn’t the case because of the torque problems discussed earlier. Big blocks and power deal with weight issues with ease. New technology is another excuse people use for racing imports rather than domestics. It obviously makes sense that new cars have better technology than cars designed forty and fifty years ago had. The new technology is usually focused on making cars more reliable and economical though, not more high performance. Nothing beats raw power when it comes to speed. Another notable difference in exotic imports and domestic sports cars is that foreign cars are built for high speeds. American cars are made for acceleration speeds and therefore top end is usually sacrificed. That is the American way, hard accelerations off the line that can shatter the weak parts used to build imports.

If your only interest is going in a straight line, I would basically agree with you. If I were going in that direction, I'd still choose an old hemi or LS6 chevelle over any of the newer stuff, including the Viper.
However, the mark of a *true* sports car is the whole package; handling, braking, power, etc. There isn't a current American car that can do all of that as well as the better imports (although the 'vette is remarkably close), and the imports are often less costly, as well.
As I mentioned before, for what you're paying for them, the Corvette and the Viper just don't measure up, they can be outdone overall for half the cost.

The only American cars of interest were/are the Vector and Shelby's input into the AC Cobra [an English car, anyway].
The pre Mach 1 Mustangs were OK in a mildly archaic sense....thanks to Good old Steve and Bullitt...
Vipers are a freeway-mentality car....may as well be for drag-racing as like the Bolwell Nagari in Australia they don't go round corners well.
If I wanted something 'big' I STILL wouldn't go American, I'd just get an old Blower Bentley that Bugatti called the 'fastest truck in the world'....
