Anything on earth went pass pluto?

On my way home from school I have an arguement with my cousin, he said that something(?) that was sent outer space and after a long period it finally passed pluto. But i dont believe him the distant from earth to pluto is like 40 times greater than from earth to sun and Ive never heard of something like this so can someone tell me if this is true or not.

There were satillites sent out in the 60's or 70's I think it was with the intention of passing Pluto after taking pictures of the solar system, but that it would take a very long time. I don't know if they actually have made it that far yet though.

No, you won your bet. Pluto is yet the only planet of the solar system that's never been unexplored.
There have been several plans since the 70's to send space probes to explore the distant planet, but it never happened. 

There is once again a plan to sent a space probe to Pluto. It is planed to launch in 2006 and arrive at destination in 2015. For details, see ths link: http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/04/11/pluto030411

Oh, wait. Now I'm confused.
It seems that Pluto has been "visited by a robotic spacecraft".  But yet, I've read another article (dated june 2001) that was saying "The (Pluto) mission represents a possible opportunity to visit the only planet not yet explored by spacecraft"

So, go figure.

Actually you lost your bet....Pioneer 10 past pluto in 1983 and is well on its way to the star Aldebara. Should get there in about 2 million years at its current rate. Aldebara is 68 light years away.

OK, unless, it's like you said EH: a robotic spacecraft maybe passed close to it (hense the word "visited"?), but no craft has actually stopped to exlpore it?
Just speculations here. Dunno. Still confused.

OK then. It's settled. Something went past it (Pioneer 10) but never stopped to exlpore it.

Nothing has yet stopped to explore it, but an number of things have passed it.

Pioneer 10 & 11, as well as Voyager 1 & 2, are all beyond Pluto's orbit at this point.
