Yeah, I'm cool with that. People are so hung up on cleanliness, as if somehow their own cleanliness is self-made, or betters the world in some way. Sadly, its existance relies upon a lot of other people committing 'murder', or at least threatening to do so in order to keep peace.
I don't think it is murder, but if some people feel that way I can live with the label.

If you don't believe in capital punishment, I don't have a problem with it. Just don't delude yourself so much that you think that keeping people like Saddam Hussein alive somehow makes the world a more moral place.
Actually, it would just gives all his flunkies hope that he will someday come back, and lets him control more idiocy from the comfort of jail.

I'd give him a gun, one bullet, and an empty room and as long a time as needed.
Now that would be justice...

Give me the gun, I'll do it. Though I'm a lousy shot - might take quite a few to finish him off...

541 deaths in a war that was almost universally predicted to have a death-toll in the thousands. 456 American, 53 UK and 32 from the other nations that are supporting the war. Not to in any lessen the tragic impact of these deaths on the families of those who gave their lives in the war against terrorism, but had anyone predicted that Iraq would be liberated in so short a time and Saddam captured with this loss of life, they would have been regarded as optimistic.
Larry ..... that's 541 deaths too many, and you seem to have overlooked the unknown number of civilians who were regarded as 'collateral damage'.
As for lofty pronouncements by 'Politicians' ..... who cares! >
Considering most have no inkling of the 'Real World' except when it comes to keeping their comfy little chairs occupied ...

#59 by macrobaye - 12/14/2003 5:22:37 PM I also think that the death penalty is the wrong way to go, no matter how sever the crime. The death penalty is murder. Period. Saddam should be locked away in prison, with every other prisoner wanting to kill him. The death penalty is not only wrong, but it is an easy way out for a man who murdered millions of his OWN PEOPLE.DEAN 2004
I think macrobaye is going to vote for Dean.

Jafo, very creative, though I do not know if he would actually shot himself... not at first anyway.

They should build a cage in the middle of the city, so people can walk by and throw tomatoes at him.

#49 by Citizen bussie - 12/14/2003 4:40:24 PM I think the americans shouldn't be too proud of themselves. Saddam has been captured because Saddam's family told the americans where he was.Without that i think the americans would never have found him.I'm very happy that this beast has been capured and i hope he will get a fair trail and will be locked up for the rest of his life.
ANYbody trying to capture a criminal is SUPPOSSED to use the help of the community. If the Americans really plan to help the Iraqies, they will need the help of the community to do it.
If they really want to bring peace to Iraq then you ned the communities help.
There is no way around that. Period.

Mate ... he'd miss!
Not out of character for this type of 'personality' (as I understand it) is the apparant lack of resistance to capture and no attempt at taking his own life.
This is not an acceptance of his fate, more a delusion that nothing will happen to him.
It would be nice to simply regard him as a gutless bastard who lacked the fortitude to deny the enemy the satisfaction of taking him alive, but it isn't in the make-up of the man.
No term in the slammer would be of value, and you can only kill an individual once .... I think the Iraqui's have the right to run him through their legal system and execute him in their own fashion.
Maybe Hussein might begin to get the message during the proceedings .....

Now that Saddam is captured, the liberals will stop beating the "we don't have Saddam" drum and start beating on the "we don't have Osama" drum. They will also find all kinds of crazy complaints to make about Saddam's capture. Liberals just don't know when to admit they are wrong.
How in the HELL did you twist this around to being something that Liberals setup?
this cracks me up, BUSH your grand PuBA set it up, don't you remember his speach talking about leaving no stone un turned and that Osama could run but not hid and we would never stop until he was found Dead or Alive?Mindless... and boggling

Not true. I heard it said that Saddams capture was from damn good intel not a family member.
And speaking of Bush, I can not wait until he is out of office.
