Pretty neat, but it's cheaper to get a GameCube and a DVD Player seperately.

This item has been available since just after the Gamecube debuted (2 years ago), where have you been? Its a nice idea if you need that kind of thing. However I like my game machine to be just a game machine. Although I think even Nintendo will have to change that thinking for its next console as the all-in-one box is catching on.

I hope the next Nintendo is not an all in one. I already have a DVD Player. I don't want to have to pay for a function I will never use.

Hmm, good point. I hope it's not either. Almost every PS2 owner I know already had a DVD player anyway.

meh, gaming stations. blah, i use my pc, now thats an all-in-one. i have games, dvd player(+-burner), tv tuner, u name it. and i can upgrade my pc for better performance. i prefer pc because you can also get emulators on it, i want ps2, i download the emu.

If Nintendo wants to have any chance in the next gen. consoles race they will include the ability to play DVDs. Look at how cheap you can get them--you'll hardly be paying for one.
You have a stand alone DVD player TC, and so do I and so do many others. But how many don't?? Fact is it will play a crucial part. Even by then many many more will have DVD players but you can still hook it up to any tv and have that ability. Xbox 2 and PS3 will have much more than a DVD player--the Xbox has MusicMaker where you can transfer MP3s from you pc to your Xbox right now among many other features.
No more will we have stand-alone consoles. If Xbox2, PS3 or Gamecube2 didn't play DVDs I would still buy one. But thats not the case for a whole lot of users. There would be a problem if Gamecube2 DIDN'T play them--as thats a standard now.

With all the stuff they are adding on to PS3 and XBOX 2, they might as well call them computers and load them up with a operating system and office software as well.

I don't know about you TC, but bring on the features. And a PC how? System Link which enables you to play over a LAN? An ethernet port to play online? Custom soundtracks during a game? A hard drive instead of constantly throwing out money for memory cards? Could you honestly say you wouldn't want these features?

I don't see how they can NOT have DVD capability.
DVD's hold more data. More data means more film, video game, levels and other action.
Can't imagine Grand Theft Auto III on a CD or Grand Torismo.

there are different dvd formats. I think that is why it doesn't have the ability to play normal dvds. Not sure though
