Geez can humans be any more dumb... DON'T ANSER THAT!

You can only have Masters and slaves when it comes to computers. Computers don't work with 2 masters. I for one don't want to be asked witch Hard Drive to use each boot-up. I'd rather pick witch one to use when installing the hard drives. Geez

Well actually Computers do work with multpule Masters and Slave, just can not have more than one on each channel...

The computing world's venerable master/slave naming convention has come under fire by Los Angeles county officials who charge that this type of product description is offensive.

Oh hell, I find LA offensive...

Christ, morons got to get mixed into everything, the PC Police are coming to get ISO and triple E sheesh, what next they going to have to drop Floppy and Hard from drive descriptions?

JUST ONCE...I'd like to see something like this get to court...and have both the judge and the jury simply start laughing uncontrollably until they vomit...and then disbar the prosecuting attorney and lock the plaintiff up for psychiatric observation.

Of course you wouldn't be able to call your drives 'primary' and 'secondary' either. The term 'secondary' could suggest the drive was somehow inferior to the 'primary' and impede it's psychological development as a fully functional part of a pc. It would be direct discrimination to disadvantage a drive in this way...

They should eliminate 'RAM' also...that's a *naughty* term! Come to think of it so is port, socket, and any number of other things.

aha

I was wondering when that would make its way to the message board.

When I first started this computer thing I thought, slave... hmmmmmmmmmmm...

But I really didn't give it that much attention. It really is not that important.

Oh Jafo, I think if they knew about that it would be on the list too.

Plug it in? Amazing.

Fuzzy, I find the idea of calling the second drive secondary untrue to computer geek language.

Clearly the second hard drive is not second in charge. It is not in 'charge' of anything. It is quite literally the slave to the main drive.

So it is funny that they want it to be called something else. Calling it secondary is a misnomer.

What would you call the third drive? The Third drive?

Come ON PEOPLE!!!

So what would you call it? A non-determinate entity with no affiliation or designation but with equivalent purpose to any other non-determinate entity...
