1024 & 1280. Who uses more?

In looking at DX Themes I have noticed that *most* themes are for reso's of 1280+ and the authors generally say that the only ones using 1024 are people with 15" monitors or laptops.
So, my question is: Of the people using DX Themes, which is the greater number, 1024 or 1280? Has there already been a poll done on this and what was the result. If not, could that be considered for a future poll.

I've had 19" and 17" monitors and I'ved use 1024x768 for years. This was not the default resolution for my monitors (the defaults settings were 800x600 even on my newest---one year old---monitor, go figure) but it's a comfortable size for me.

Based on my DX themes, the 1280x1024 themes have been vastly more poplular. On one particular theme, I made 2 identical versions. One of them is 1024 and the other is 1280. The 1280 got a higher rating and holds double the amount of downloads as the 1024.
It took me a bit to get used to 1280 on my 19" monitor, but now that I am used to it, 1024 looks gigantic and is uncomfortable.
Now an example of a flip side...
DaWebMassa's Warehouse theme... the higher res theme donned a 10 rating while the 1024 counterpart earned a 9. However in the download stats, the 1024 has had slightly better results.
Make your own judgement call, but I'd say go at it in 1280x1024 if you are comfortable viewing it yourself.

why do you guys like the higher resulutions? If i use 1024 x 768 I have to squint to read the screen.

Oh Jafo, not Mitsubishi! I cringe when I hear Mitsubishi, but thats another story, you don't find the 1024x768 too over exagerated on that 19"?
Who said anything about being bigger for the sake of it - I am sure that you didn't buy that 19" because it came standard with your computer?
When I purchased my 19" it was with one thing in mind - more viewing area! In fact, over the past year I have come to see that purchasing ever growing monitors sizes is futile! Its become my personal belief that power-users should in fact relie on dual monitors to increase work efficiency but then again I have always been a little crazy when computers are concerned!

I use 1280x1024 on my desktop LCD, 1600x1200 on my dell laptop, and 1600x1024 on my apple powerbook, (widescreen)

I use 1600x1200 and I love it. At work I use 1280x1024 because it doesn't support any higher.

Raithe...I upped to the 19" because it can be pushed to 1600x1200 at 75 hz....[or 1280x1024 at 85hz]....so when setting multi-res LiteSTEP themes I can actually finally test the 1600 without killing a monitor...

I use 1600x1200 @ 85 hertz on my 19" Dynaflat...It's ok for me

1024 is too big while 1280 is too small. I use the inbetween 1152 on my 19" monitor. A big reason why my friends don't use 1152 is because they don't have that resolution option.

I will say it again - why do you people insist on using such big res? The bigger the res, the smaller things get. I find it hard to read anything on my screen at 1024 so I like 800x600.

The things may be smaller (even though there's room for some changes in font size and the like), but I can read everything quite nicely at 1600x1200. I can also get a lot more on a give page (document or web page, etc.).

That was my point - the average joe will just purchase the standard size monitor that comes with a computer but an artist or power-user has a need and will purchase as much as he or she can to be more productive.
