giving away a subscription to wincustomize.com

Tuesday, October 28, 2003 by mfaccone | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have asked an administrator here if I could do this... no answer to my email yet so I figured I would get it started.
I am wanting to give my subscription of wincustomize.com to someone here who can't afford it.
I am using the honesty program here so please don't ask if you make more than 20,000.00 US Dollars a year, or if you live at home with your parents that make more than 20,000.00 US Dollars a year, or your parents are giving you an allowance and sending you to college.
If you fall somewhere below that catagory and really want the subscription which is good for almost 2 years... give or take a month I think.... and Jafo returns my email without sarcasm and/or locking the thread, then let me know here. We will decide who will receive it if it is possible. If, due to pride or whatever, you wish to remain completely anonymous then you can email me at [email protected] or you could email Jafo here.

mfaccone...as I have said on many occasions, I am not paid to endure recalcitrant people....but perhaps you missed the crux of the statement, I am not paid at all, and neither are any of the other Admins/moderators on Wincustomize.com.

We all volunteer our time and do not need, nor do we deserve this diatribe of invective.

If you need to alter the 'status' of your account you were given the appropriate contact.

Do not continue publicly with this, and kindly refrain from misrepresentation, both here and elsewhere.

It serves you no purpose.

Mfaccone as a customer service people trainer you should know that the costumer isn't always right but this is not an issue of an unsatisfy costumer with the purchase or performance of the product. This is an issue that escaladed with out provocation or direct accusation from anyone.
I dont think anyone would have known it was your SS that Jafo used as an example of how the work of another artist on a SS can be 'stolen' if its not uploaded correctly until you mentioned.
Jafo made the post to create an awareness and to advice users on how to correctly upload a SS. At no point in the thread did he pointed any fingers or accused anyone of anything.
I think getting upset over this and pushing the issue further as to wanting to cancell or give your subscription away it's totally unethical and unescesary.

I don't know how many times I have said that this is not the issue.
But anyway, the issue is dead in my opinion. It only gets rebrought up falsely when the true gets too close. Here.. publicly... no accusations were made. Emails were. I won't paste those here though, and the source will twist it again.. and the thread will be closed. So be it.. last post by me anyway.

mfaccone, As the President/CEO of a 25 year old company I also insist that our customer training program include training for rational behavior. A few of the important components of that are not to back yourself in a corner and shoot yourself in the foot. Try to understand both sides of the conversation/situation and be reasonable. After reading the entire issue here I noticed that until you mentioned that you were involved I would never have known. Your screenshot was only being used as an example.
Knowing all of this my opinion of your wounds here are totally self-inflicted. Your attitude and proposed solution are unbecoming of a "Customer Service" expert. Sit back, relax and realize that you shot yourself in the foot here and make a "Customer Service" based decision. Your situation certainly doesn't have to continue in the direction it's going. You've paid for products and services that you wanted and thought were a good deal only a short time ago. Now, with your emotions involved your making choices that aren't based on the same principles you used to make the purchase. Don't become a martyr here. I'm absolutly sure that's something you wouldn't train anyone in.

The fastest solution for this problem would be Ctrl-w I think. It cures all virtual ills, second only to a power outage.

mfaccone, Think about some of the things people do in anger. Take a week or two and CALM DOWN!! Realize as I did, that this certain administrator has p***ed off a lot of members, me included. Realizing that no name has been mentioned, he tends to believe he can do no wrong, and he can't seem to see any fault with himself. No apologies come to those he has offended because he finds equal fault in your words after his action, to validate himself. Then, you might even get nasty emails from him. Like you, I was furious. I acted irrationally, just like you. I took all my work off the site, and I thought I was hurting him. I wasn't hurting him, I was hurting myself and anyone who might have liked my work.

Some people just don't understand how to communicate with people in a professional mature environment. A football field or a race track is not such an environment. Therefore, the conduct of those individuals might be different from that on Wall Street or a corporation such as Stardock.

With that said, I believe this person does care deeply about the site. I don't feel that he intentionally tries to hurt others or offend them. He just has a slightly different way of operating. So, just calm down as I should have done. Don't act in haste. Haste makes waste. You probably won't listen, because you are really angry right now. But, many people here have felt that way when dealing with this certain admin. But, in time, you'll get over it and learn from this situation, and you will slowly try to enjoy the site inspite of him. Take a deep breath and take a little time. Don't let this one administrator ruin a beautifully artistic site for you. DON'T LET HIM DO IT.

And when you are hurting and angry here, don't expect many people to try to console you. They will mostly laugh at you, and take it as "another one bites the dust". Don't be a statistic of ridicule. Be a survivor. Myself, I think I am Neil from the Matrix. I died and I resurrected myself. I lost a lot along the way, but I am stronger now. I know what people do to try to hurt and inflame others, for some sick gratification, and I feel sorry for them. But, I won't allow myself to become a statistic. Be a survivor. This is life my friend, don't run away. This is basically a beautiful site and some beautiful hearts and creations are in it. And there maybe a few "Cogs in the Ointment" or "Potholes in the road" but, I learned to just go around them. I hope you will too.

Can't we all get along? This thread is filled with too much emotion and intermittent logic. I feel like I'm caught in a Bashing Pumpkins script. If a presumptuous email was all I had to worry about... Besides, any writer/artist will tell you - you'd better have one tough skin! And now for my final comment which no one seems to have heard before, no one ever said life was fair...

God forbid if we have too much emotion on this site. God forbid if we have too much caring, feeling, or respect for each other. God Forbid, NOT!

The best artists in histoy are those who showed the most emotion in their work. And somehow some people expect no emotion from a site such as this which is full of artists. It's funny.

Although, at times, I sort of "feel" for the admins on this site. It must be tough dealing with a site full of tempermental artists.

ChasUGC....this is an issue you would do well to butt out of.

I do not deserve such comment from you, nor do I wish to endure it.
