giving away a subscription to wincustomize.com
Tuesday, October 28, 2003 by mfaccone | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I am wanting to give my subscription of wincustomize.com to someone here who can't afford it.
I am using the honesty program here so please don't ask if you make more than 20,000.00 US Dollars a year, or if you live at home with your parents that make more than 20,000.00 US Dollars a year, or your parents are giving you an allowance and sending you to college.
If you fall somewhere below that catagory and really want the subscription which is good for almost 2 years... give or take a month I think.... and Jafo returns my email without sarcasm and/or locking the thread, then let me know here. We will decide who will receive it if it is possible. If, due to pride or whatever, you wish to remain completely anonymous then you can email me at [email protected] or you could email Jafo here.

Please remember that the company that sold you the product is Stardock. That being said, Stardock's EULA does *not* allow the transfer of any of our products. Once you have downloaded it and it is functioning, it's yours. Please keep in mind that the messageboards do not effect a subscription. The main point of the subscription is unlimited downloads on the site, as well as access to two premium skin packs and a browsing tool.
So, in short, the "official" word is- you can't transfer your license. It would have been better to have gotten an answer from Stardock before posting this thread. (Remember, your credit card statement has our name and phone number connected to the charge for your subscription).

| Had he said "WB sucks!" I would have been less apt to chime in, but this looks more like he just wants someone to get the goods without Stardock getting paid. |
Just wanting Wincustomize to give let someone continue to use what was already paid in full. That being a service.
I am taking what I experienced here as the way they do business all around. That said, I will no longer be an advocate or a user or a customer of stardock products or anything related to wincustomize administration

| #46 by Mr mfaccone - 10/29/2003 9:46:26 AM Please delete my account from your site and from your records. Please delete my subscription information as well. |
Are you sure you want that? Once that is done, you won't be able to log in. You also won't be able to change your mind. I would suggest just not using it if you don't want it. you may change your mind and decide that you want to download something. If I delete your account (which will not delete your sales record) you will not even be able to log in to the site.
I am sorry that you are being so negative about this, but we are a software company, and we do have EULA just like all software companies do.

It is also one of the means to keep track of registered verse pirated serial number registration, so...
mfaccone, sorry for you that your deciding upon going this route but I am sure you've made up your mind.
c-ya on the flip side

mfaccone, if you start a thread about giving away your account and you get some seriouse reply's to it, why don't you just give it away instead of deleting it.
Kona wants it IMO

Grrr I've been trying to stay away but forget it. >
Um, macfannee, do you have no clue what a mountain you're making out of a molehill? You are removing your ability to use an awesome program , OD, because a mod on a skin site pissed you off. Get a grip.
Dude, if you plan to continue hanging out on 'net communities, on
ANY site, you'd best grow some thicker skin, and grow it quick. Your little run-in with Jafo was -nothing-. >

This didn't all start with a ss. I had an issue about the way it was handled and the lack of communication forthwith. It happened that during that dispute things went south because of illegal accusations being thrown my way by one of the mods... something to do with prepubescent girls... Anyway, not the point anymore. I decided to keep but bury my subscription so that Wincustomize doesn't get something for nothing... but I will not ever resubscribe to Stardock or Wincustomize in the future. And when I am out talking to people in the field.. I won't be recommending them to this site either.
One of the many things I do in this life is train customer service people... and if I had one person say that we don't get paid enough to deal with a paying customer, or accuse the customer of doing something that is unfounded and with no proof... they would be out the door in a heartbeat, never to be in customer service again. And I think the administration of this site should recognize and train the mods in that fashion. After all, paid subscribers are paying customers.

Well if he is really unhappy he will do that.
Yes I see your point Bakerstreet, Stardock has no reason to 'trust' that he will delete the software or be able to check.
But he did say 2 years so I wonder why he said that? Sounds like the skin browser.
