It's possibly appropriate to remind one and all that Wincustomize.com is not 'Stardock Support', and should not be seen as 'the' appropriate forum for product assistance....

As was mentioned in the newsgroups, you can keep hitting ESC while the PC is logging on to work around the issue. Until we can debug the cause, the new auto-update for SDC will disable the MCP SmartStartup functions.

Smart Startup is the new splash screen you see while Windows is booting, I believe? Seems to speed up startup a bit.

Well I must have missed a meeting because I still don't know what it is. 
The only thing I've noticed is a pop up when SDC starts up and says, hey here are some updated OD programs, ya wanna update now? But that's been there since a few updates back.

Thanks, Yrag, I now sort of recall reading about it before. But for me it hasn't been showing up in the OD downloads in SDC.

Does MCP have anything to do with XML_HTTP Control ??? because since the troubles i get a critical update in Windows Update which is refering to http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS02-008.asp
don't know if it may help ...

MCP sounds like some sort of medical condition.
Not showing in OD/SDC on my work PC either, FWIW.

sig, I know SDC is not in beta, what I referred to was WB4 under 98 beta and infered that the issue was revolving around updating WB4/98 through SDC...
The only issue I have noticed with SDC is updating across SDNet and WinC subscriptions not seeming to take for a few days.
