A few times I just get a blank page saying, 'Service Unavailable'.
When I do access the site I get a 'Data Base Connection' error when ever I go to any library or the message board.
I know you guys are working on it...Just thought that might help

other than the internal server errors i've never gotten an error message.. it was actually uploaded for like a day, and it said it would upload within 3-4 days or something.. that was 2 weeks ago and it still isnt up, and it disappeared the one day.. its nothing bad, it just mysteriously disappeared... i am about ready to give up or find another site. i understand you're migrating servers right now, but still.. they werent before, and i had problems..

| #59 by Citizen vasgo - 10/21/2003 12:29:38 AM thank you yrag, and t-man. i think i may have found a work around. after uninstalling wincustomize/stardock and running the latter only, the wincust libraries (and contents) appear innitially but then upon refreshing although the libraries.zip file registers as downloading, when it displays, the categories are shown but the contents are not. further, when i click on the lib.zip file, it registers as corrupted. i have found however though if i select refresh site updates first THEN refresh the wincustomize lib's this seems to work. |
I have wrestled with this same problem for a week now. I am going to try your work-around. My problem started when I DLed SDC 112 that auto updated itself to Version 1.15a 217, build: 31, and although the Libraries appear to download forever, all I get are empty icons. I have even re DLed SDC but still have the same trouble with the "Skins and Themes" Libraries.
Will soon let you know how the work-around works for me.

I have re-installed both, used spares of older ones I kept tucked away on another drive, cleared all cookies, updated to newer versions and a dozen other things to no avail.
The libraries.zip download, but all I get are Icons without files.
I have tried the various suggestions listed in this thread, and still no luck.
I am currently using SDC 1.12.212 build 23 and Wincustomize Browser 1.20.014
What I do not get other than Icons are:
Recent Skins
Libraries
I do get these:
Top Downloads
Newest Additions
Updated Skins
Featured Skins
I can access everything else using both browsers, so this is not a dire issue.
Just thought I would post here and hopefully help reveal a problem.

. I've been checking around and I'm able to download from DeviantArt. No problem. Just can't get anything from here. My IE6 has been hanging on the page when I try to download from WC since the begining of Oct., so I've been using Mozilla since then. Until yesterday.I thought I'd try again tomorrow.

My StardockCentral discussion list 'browser' (widget, doodad, whatever) is locking all the threads in the list, i.e I can't quote another message (no icon), and the text entry box (& 'submit' button) at the bottom of the page is missing. I usually only lurk in WC-General but I confirmed the same behaviour with other groups also. So far I've tried (unsuccessfully):
Resetting the list...
Deleting the SDC 'discussion'.ini file...
Deleting the cookies...
This is with my Win2k SP4 (office) PC. I posted also on the Stardock news groups but nobody has managed to solve it. I can access the discussions fully if I use IE (that's how I'm posting this).
The confusing thing is it works perfectly on my home machine (XP SP1) using identical login details.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Deleted the 'discussion.ini file in the \program files\Stardock directory.
From casual observation (not a byte by byte compare) they look(ed) identical
Aaannnyhoo, I'll just shuffle away now... (how embarrassment)
