I keep having this pop-under window all the time, from Showbehind.com. I ran Ad-Aware, which said that it deleted a registry entry about it. But it just keeps coming back. I am really getting mad.
I think it's the Google bar doing this, because it started happening when I installed it. But I've never heard that Google bar was a spyware, but everything seems to tell me that it is. When I disable the Google bar, the pop-under stop happening. How come I never heard anybody say anything about this, I'm sure I'm not the only one who used Google bar here. Anyway, off goes Google bar for me, thank you. As well as the reputation Google had in my mind, I am utterly disapointed by them.

I just downloaded Adaware yesterday, so I assume it's the latest one.
But I just found on Showbehind's web site that there is a way to opt-out. Thank goodness. I downloaded and ran their remove program. We'll see if it works.
But I'm still disapointed in Google for installing this crap in the first place.

I just downloaded and installed the Google toolbar. And then I ran my Ad Aware and sybot search and destroy. No mention of showbehind. Google installed without ANY spyware of any kind...

Kona, I'm fairly sure it did. I haven't installed anything else last week, and the Showbehind adds started happening the very day I installed Google.
But I'll try to dig more info.

Hum, I can't find anything anywhere about Google installing Showbehind. Maybe it's not it. But it's really strange though, because it even seems to me that the popunders stoped when I disabled the toolbar. Anyway. The only other thing it can be is that it installed with some activeX thing from a website. I like to play online games, so maybe it installed itself with one of those games? I guess it's possible, but I went to those online game sites, and I see nothing regarding Showbehind either.
I dunno. Anyway, I think I got rid of it. That's the main thing.

do a registry search from the top for "showbehind" and it should either have the enumerated keys and or the path to where any files associated to it are located.... Also, reset IE to the defaults on the Programs tab...

You people just need to check you security settings and watch what you download.
Google does NOT come with spyware. Well it does come with its own spyware so it can tell you what the page rank is but you can turn it off.
WHY IS GOOGLE NOT LISTED as a spyware in adaware and search and destroy?
Because it isn't spyware!

I forgot what it was but it was in a thread I posted somewhere.
Anyway, a visit to some site gave me the ability to go to the registry and take it out myself (what ever it was causing the pop up and unders)
Now Google toolbar works fine.
(BTW it might be a program you downloaded and removed but it left you a present... AdWare)

With the advanced features enabled, Google's free toolbar for Explorer phones home with every page you surf, and yes, it reads your cookie too. Their privacy policy confesses this, but that's only because Alexa lost a class-action lawsuit when their toolbar did the same thing, and their privacy policy failed to explain this. Worse yet, Google's toolbar updates to new versions quietly, and without asking. This means that if you have the toolbar installed, Google essentially has complete access to your hard disk every time you connect to Google (which is many times a day). Most software vendors, and even Microsoft, ask if you'd like an updated version. But not Google. Any software that updates automatically presents a massive security risk.
