I keep having this pop-under window all the time, from Showbehind.com. I ran Ad-Aware, which said that it deleted a registry entry about it. But it just keeps coming back. I am really getting mad.
I think it's the Google bar doing this, because it started happening when I installed it. But I've never heard that Google bar was a spyware, but everything seems to tell me that it is. When I disable the Google bar, the pop-under stop happening. How come I never heard anybody say anything about this, I'm sure I'm not the only one who used Google bar here. Anyway, off goes Google bar for me, thank you. As well as the reputation Google had in my mind, I am utterly disapointed by them.

| Hum, I can't find anything anywhere about Google installing Showbehind. Maybe it's not it. But it's really strange though, because it even seems to me that the popunders stoped when I disabled the toolbar. Anyway. The only other thing it can be is that it installed with some activeX thing from a website. I like to play online games, so maybe it installed itself with one of those games? I guess it's possible, but I went to those online game sites, and I see nothing regarding Showbehind either. |
Google bar most likely did not install Showbehind. Trust me I am a total privacy/anti-spyware nut, and I use it.
Yep a junky site could have installed it without you knowing or seeing a thing, using ActiveX. There are malwares on the 'net now that are exploiting ActiveX to dump crap on your machine without you knowing a thing. I have ActiveX allowed only for my Trusted Sites. >

With all due respect this site is well, a bit over the top. It ain't spyware IMO because Google tells you what it does, how it does it and why.
Just turn off the Advanced Features and it won't track you anyway.
Yeah, it does autopdate if you let it (I have ZoneAlarm not letting it out), as stated when you accept their privacy policy.
That statement in the article that "Google essentially has complete access to your hard disk every time you connect to Google".... The autopdate occurs via an ActiveX control. They don't access to your drive, and if they did, they're not going to look through it!
