I want the Calendar everyone has!!

Ok, I am probably dumber than a rock but I saw in a previous thread where someone asked about the calendar and the answer was Rainlender, which I have been dying to know myself. I downloaded it. Now what do I do with the sucker. It totally screwed up my machine. Like a real boob, I threw all my Rainlender skins from Sysmetrix into the Rainlender skin file and nothing works. My computer looks like it was just shipped from Mars. What do I do once I download the installer of Rainlender? Where do I put all the skins. Do I put Rainlender in Sysmetrix? This probably isn't a WB problem, but I have been here for 2 years and I know you guys and girls are the ones in the know. HELP. I want a glitzy calendar like everyone else has!! Please don't laugh at me, I put WB, and Desktop X and all the other Stardock program together and everything works so I am not a total idiot, but this one has me baffled.

I did this. I put my Rainlander skins in the Rainlander skin file. (My Sysmetrix skins are all there and work fine). Then everything got funky so I rebooted my computer and that is when everything went haywire. I uninstalled Rainlander and reinstalled it again. Still the same thing. Do I need to install anything to get Rainlander to work? Did I not install the right install program (I have XP and installed the explorer edition). I just don't know what I did wrong. Most stuff is self-explanatory and don't know why I am having such a problem with this stupid calendar. Thanks for your help. I pretty much did what you said and that is what baffles me.

OK, now I got the calendar to come up okay. So I take my Sysmetrix skins and put them in the Rainlendar file under skins, correct? I did that, but they don't show up under skins. Do I need to do something different? Thanks for your help. I really appreciate this.

I'm sorry, didn't mean my Sysmetrix skins, meant my Raindlendar skins that are in Sysmetrix.

This is the way I handle the Rainlendar skins:
I unzip the Rainlendar skin to a temporary folder. Then I drag this unzipped skin folder into the Rainlendar skin folder. I've found that after doing this, I need to close Rainlendar and restart it in order for the new skin to appear in the skin selection list.
I handle Sysmetrix the same way...the only difference is that Sysmetrix does not have to be closed and restarted for the skin to appear in the list.

You need to quit the program before you put a new skin and then start the program for the new skin to show up and work correctly after being selected. Hope this helps....

I'm confused, what does Rainlendar have to do with Sysmetrix??? They are two different applications. Rainlendar is a standalone program. If you're using the installer (the .exe), once you download the .exe to where you want it (downloaded files folder, desktop, whatever you normally do with downloaded installers, .exes) simply click on it and let it install. It has a default installation path which should be fine.
Perhaps Rainlendar skins have been provided along with some Sysmetrix skins is all I can surmise since ordinarily there's no connection between the two apps of which I'm aware. If that is the case it sounds like Chris' instructions are the way to go.

Your Sysmetrix skins are all where? In the Sysmetrix skin folder? If that's what you mean, ok.
Rainlendar skins go in the appropriate Rainlendar directory, Sysmetrix skins go into the appropriate Sysmetrix directory. The Sysmetrix and Rainlendar directories are completely separate as they are separate applications. It may seem elementary, but I'm saying that because I can't quite understand where you're coming from, you seem to be connecting Rainlendar with Sysmetrix and I don't see any relationship between the two.
I can't really recall if I shut down Rainlendar before installing skins. I probably did. It certainly won't hurt to do so, since others recommend it. All I can say is I've used Rainlendar for years on W98 and XP without any problems.

Thank you all so much. I finally got it figured out and, yes, the problem was I needed to reboot to get things to work right. The reason I thought Sysmetrix and Rainlendar may have been together somehow was because several of my Sysmetrix skins had Rainlendar files and I never knew what to do with them or how to get them to show up. I didn't know there was even a Rainlendar program. Duh...I was thinking I must not have them in Sysmetrix right because they never showed up. You have to understand, not everyone is a computer genius. I am not totally computer iliterate but the Sysmetrix files were the first I had ever seen or heard of Rainlendar. Regardless, I got it figured out and I appreciate all your help. Thanks.

Under there, you'll find a folder for each Rainlendar skin installed. Assuming that the files in the zip are structured under a folder with the skins's name, unzip the Rainlendar skin into the Skins directory. For instance:
C:\program files\rainlendar\Skins\SomeNewSkin
Sysmetrix is very similar. Assuming you have Sysmetrix installed, you'll find a Themes folder under it. For example: C:\Program Files\SysMetrix\Themes
Unzip the Sysmetrix skin to the Themes folder. Again, this assumes that the zipped skin contains the folder name for the skin such that unzipping it will create a subfolder under the Themes
You can switch between rainlendar skins by rightclicking rainlendar. This displays a menu from which you can select a skin
To swich sysmetrix skins, rightclick sysmetrix and select configuration from the menu. This displays a configuration dialog box from which you can select a skin
