Honz - a key part of what I said was "from my point of view", if someone else feels differently that's fair enough

As to Stardock making more profit without WC...that's highly debateable I'd say. Although it's hard to quantify, WC is a marvelous showroom for Stardock's products and what they are capable of. I'm not so sure I would have registered my Stardock booty without the reassurance that WC provides. There are many customization tools out there, with varying levels of support/availability of skins etc etc. A visit to WC might convince the unsure that Stardock is worth actually spending money on. It worked on me

I don't understand...... why is it o.k. for DeviantArt to have ways of making money, but not WinCustomize? The methods may be slightly different but the result is the same: ways of paying for bandwidth. This site also has exclusive subscriber areas where there are exclusive skins etc, and I can assure you that the authors of those skins will have been well rewarded too. And yes, Brad IS a very generous person, I have first hand knowledge of that generosity. I still don't see the problem with the CD thing though, just uncheck the box and no one will sell your skin......simple.

Tiggz: I don't think you understand the history of how this site came about, and Stardocks position in the community. Stardock was doing just fine BEFORE this site existed.

the difference between the two methods is this:
Wincustomize: cd sold = WC gets money, artist gets warm feel good factor
deviantART: skin made for subscribers, people subscribe, da get money, artist gets paid.

Anyway, I've said my piece. It's been a sticky point for me personally since it was introduced and no matter what I say will change anyone's attitude, and nor will my own perception change.

I see it as Wincustomize.com sells CD.....and site stays alive for me to have my stuff accessible on the biggest skinning site on the net.....fuzzy feelings don't really come into it......BTW...I buy the CDs....even have one still in the packaging....don't 'need' them at all...but the site needs the sale/s...
