I'm planning to move to USA and pinpointed New Hampshire, Boston
Any thoughts on the places and where best to look at etc would be greatly appreciated

two of "bad" weather (at least in southern Michigan. Northern Michigan is

I think you need to visit more of the US .....there are plenty of "quiet"
areas in the US. But, if you only visit the "tourist" areas, you will
never see them. (Just like any country you go to). For instance, I
think that the large Amish sections of Michigan could be considered as "quiet"
as can be.

Hey, come to Montreal instead, you'll get both Europe and America in the same place.
True, though taxes are a bummer, but housing costs is the cheapest in North America. I bought my house for 65,000 CA$ (around 40,000 US$).

I also have to vote for TEXAS. I wasn't born here (originally from NY) but I got here as fast as I could.

Actually, getting back to your original choice of Boston. I can't think of a better place. A good sized city that is close to some of the most beautiful little towns you ever want to see. My wife and I have gone there on occasion. One of our most favorite areas is the Cape Ann area just north of Boston. With towns like Gloucester (America's oldest seaport), Rockport, Essex and Manchester by-the-Sea, to name just a few. And of course, south of Boston is the other wonderful cape, Cape Cod.
You would be hard pressed to find a better area in the U.S. to live.

I agree. NE is beautful! Especially in the fall. People come from all over the country to experience thr georgous fall foliage. Also we have a lot of historical landmaks here in NE. Basketball hall of fame, Smith & wesson (revolutionary gun maker), Indian motorcycle museum, Boston Harbor. Not to mention home of the great Boston red socks, and Boston Bruins. The winters are snowing and cold, but, the rest of the year, the beautiful countryside, and all of NE's culture makes it all worth while.

It's not a competition Kona0197. Just some friendly suggestions on possible spots to settle in the U.S.
Actually, if I was to leave Canada to live in the U.S. it would be Cape Ann. (Most likely the town of Gloucester.)
