I hate to say this, but I had to ask a couple weeks ago because I didn't know either. I chocked it up to generation gap.

'M' means you just typed the letter on the bottom-right of the vocab keys on a qwerty keyboard...

I had the hardest time remembering what LMAO means. I know now of course but it took a few internet searches to figure that out. Same with WTF. But I know that one now too.
