Pricing of premium content.
- and the reason for not complaining about it.
Tuesday, May 12, 2020 by Jan Oscar | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I have given this some thoughts lately, since the matter seems to come up too often for the wrong reasons and I also admit to be one of the many seeing this the wrong way and for which I'm sorry. Try to think about it the next time you are shopping. You see a nice cake and the price is $10. It's not that nice, you tell the baker, but I'm willing to give you $5! Seriously? The point is there is no way you are in your right to decide the pricing for any merchandise or work in this world. That is for the artist, baker, craftsman or whoever is making you the possibility and offer to buy their product. You can argue about it, but that doesn't mean you are right or in your right to do so.
There are a LOT of free content here at Wincustomize/Stardock to satisfy most of their customers & visitors. If you don't like the price of a product you want, don't buy it. Spend your money elsewhere where you and the seller agree on the price - not a price decided only by your opinion.
Respect the artists right to get paid for their work.

Well said, Yrgal.... and ditto. I have purchased a few premium skins over the years but not lately. I recently spent quite a bit of money to replace what I thought was a dead PC. Fortunately I discovered later that it wasn't dead and I was able to resurrect it, but now that's all taken care of there's a few more master skins I'd like to add to my collection.

Master skins are worth every penny spent on them.
Kudos to the Master Skinners!

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE!
It is NOT up to a maker of a product to decide its value, its up to the consumer purchasing said product.
If the price is too high for said consumer, not only is it within his rights to NOT BUY IT, but say why.
If the maker of the product doesn't care, they can count on going out of business.
We don't live in a sellers world, our world survives on the whole idea of a FREE MARKET, which comes down to the CONSUMER deciding, not the seller.
Sorry if your offended that people tell you the truth, but thats your problem, not anyone elses.
I'm sure this opinion won't be popular, BUT IT IS CORRECT!
My renewall is coming up for object dock, and as much as I love the mods, I'm strongly considering saying goodbye after all these years, for just these reasons.
For the issues there is, and the countless hours messing with them, I'm not sure its worth my money anymore.

Actually, it is not correct. People say Apple products are too high. They will not be going out of business anytime soon.

If a price is too high - Don't buy it.
Simple.
BTW....haven't seen Ferrari or Lamborghini going out of business lately...but too bloody pricey for me...

A 'free market'...the consumer is free to buy [or not]. The vendor is free to set his price.
"The free market is an economic system based on supply and demand with little or no government control. It is a summary description of all voluntary exchanges that take place in a given economic environment. Free markets are characterized by a spontaneous and decentralized order of arrangements through which individuals make economic decisions."
Supply and demand, without external control. Neither party subjugates the other.

Right on Jafo, Sounds like champagne taste on beer budget too me. When ya go to store you pay what they want or you dont have it. simple as that.

You totally missed the point I was making to point at a company that is an absolute exception and not the rule.
I learned in business decades ago that prices are dictated by the market and what the consumer will pay.
The consumer pays for apple products *which btw speaks volumes for the intelligence of society in general.* But ya, exceptions don't change rules, thats why they are called exceptions.

BECAUSE THEY HAVE AND ARE TARGETED AT A SPECIFIC MARKET GENIUS!

I don't give a shit, I knew the post wouldn't be popular, but that doesn't make it wrong.
Go feel sorry for yourself cuz you don't like the truth and think people should keep it to themselves.
Sad. I couldn't care less what anyone thinks, BUT I WILL ALWAYS CALL A SPADE A SPADE and I've never been anywhere because I felt the need to cater to people feeling sorry for themselves. I was taught, again decades ago while learning to deal with decades of extreme violence at home that if I don't like something someone says, I BETTER go look in the mirror for why I don't like it!
Probably the first people to complain about our uptight world.
I mean the fact that people are using exceptions to try and support a flawed opinion speaks loud and clear for the intelligence around here.
Thank you all for helping me decide without a doubt what I was contemplating!
BYE BYE
So its been fun stardock. And this is goodbye, Time is too valuable to waste on blowing people who lie to themselves and make STUPID arguments based on exceptions so they can pretend they are right, instead of looking at the MILLIONS of rules that WENT OUT OF BUSINESS and no longer exist.
