Desktop Properties and Taskbar Userpic Question...

Tuesday, July 1, 2003 by DeLiRon_C | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I am new to WindowBlinds and I have a problem that started when I installed WB4... Nothing major, just frustrating... Whenever I try to open desktop properties, (Display), using right click on the desktop or Display from the control panel, it takes forever for it to open, as long as 5 minutes... I unistalled and reinstalled WB4, still same problem...

And...

Is there a way to disable the userpic on the start panel...

Help!!!!!

Thanks in advance

For userpic, right click on the WB icon in the systray, click on User Overides, uncheck Show user icon in start panel.

On the first thing, I noticed display properties opening a little slow on my old -2 500 but on my new fast puter, it doesn't take hardly any time.

Thanks so much for your quick response... I did what you said and it worked...

That's odd about the display, it used to open instantly...

Anyway, thanks again for your help...

DeLiRon_C...

There was a Windows update (Q811493) that was the cause of hangs like yours.

You could uninstall it from the Add Remove Programs section. After I removed it I felt like I had a new puter

I have since updated it to the new one and have had no issues.

Have you got all your recent updates? Reinstall the one you removed.

There is something causing the hang. It should never take 5 minutes to open the Diplay properties

If it's hanging both on Right Click and opening through the control panel could be video card driver.

Have you installed a new driver recently? Either manually or through the Windows updates? If so try rolling it back.

Good luck

Nope, haven't installed any new drivers... I'm puzzled... If I want to do anything with, let's say, screensavers, I just click and wait, usually away from the computer... I will keep messing with it and let you know if anything helps... Muchas Gracias
