Please, the guy took a shot at Henry Rollins in there too.
That article is worth crap, it's just that fella's opinion.
Never understood the big 'Metallica sold out' thing that goes on.
They're just 4 guys that play music. They're not emmisaries, they aren't curing cancer, and they won't ever set foot on the moon.

I've listened to it about 5 times now, and it totally blows away reload and reloaded. You can't even compare them.
Heavy metal is not supposed to be fluid and smooth. It's metal. It should be choppy and raw sounding.
This album sounds like they were having fun for a change.

The etymology of the term "heavy metal" comes from a description of a Led Zeppelin song by a reporter, who figured it sounded "like a piece of heavy metal falling from the sky" (or so).
Personally, I feel metal should have "evil" riffs. Hard to describe what that means.

| #50 by Citizen anthony roberts - 6/12/2003 2:07:39 PM I think you all are probably dissapointed with Metallicas new stuff but insist on babbling mad tales of how incredible and brilliant this recording is merely to render me irrelevant and to crush my vote and silence my voice forever into non compus mentus status. |
Yeah, whatever, bud. I don't think that anyone said it was brilliant or incredible. If you read it again and comprehend what you read, people are talking about it not being as craptacular as their last two albums. You obviously don't like Metallica, so why do you even post to this thread? And, when you do post, why don't you point out examples of why you do or don't like it instead of making passive aggressive blanket statements?
Anyone can post that "that band sucks" or "here's an article and it sums it up for me" or personally attack somebody because they disagree. But you have yet to actually mention anything that *you* dislike about this album and why *you* dislike Metallica. I don't care about articles written by other people. Anyone can parrot somebody else's view.
(Oh, and I believe that the phrase is actually spelled: "non compos
mentis". And how can your voice become not of sound mind? It doesn't make
a lot of sense: "silence my voice forever into a not of sound
mind status."
)

Times do change. I have been listening to Rock for over 35 + years now and it's all coming full circle back to the roots which is the blues and R&B. Metallica has to make some changes to stay a up with the times. Their best albums were thier first few and JUSTICE FOR ALL and the Black album (can't remember the name).
Bushman.

Bands are a dime a dozen now and you have to be able to change to survive.
