I remember using paper tape on a PDP8 in the late 60's, but those both look like they predate that.

It's 'CSIR No1' or 'CSIRAC' and was the world's fifth-ever [and Australia's first] first Gen computer...and the only one still in existence [complete].
Was until recently on display at the Melbourne Museum ....and quite impressive too.
..and yes, it's old...it was decommissioned in '64...![]()

That'll be the first...or close to....CSIRAC was 1949 ....but the thing is....it still exists ...![]()
