Java web site flickered when using CursorXP!!!

Monday, May 26, 2003 by Jincuteguy | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

CursorXP cause Java web sites to flicker . For example, I went to http://www.alienware.com, I clicked on Area51 and click to customize it. And when I scroll the bar up and down, it caused the options to flicker or generating everything twice, so everything looks double. If I disable CursorXP, then it works fine. How do I fix this problem? or it's a bug and will be fixed in the next version of CursorXP?

By the way, Im using CursorXP 1.3 Plus version, i also tried it with 1.2 version but the problem still existed.

I went to the link and set the Area 51/customized to all highest end options, never had one problem, flicker, ghost images, or anything else wrong with the list below loaded and also while burning a CD.

CXP 1.3
WindowBlind 4
Windows XP Pro

Are you running the Sun Microsystems java? I just loaded it tonight and whenever there's java running in the browser my Rainlendar calendar on the desktop flashes like a strobe.

Hi Jincuteguy,

You only have this problem when you use Java from Sun.

Use the version of Microsoft instead and everything is fine.

I think my other comp doesn't have Java from Sun, and it has the same problem with the web site with option to choose, and when scrolling the bar up and down the option became twice.

I'm not having any problems, but I know there are many that are...here's a http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/evaluation/news/jre.asp on the never ending battle between Sun & MS.

If you say u don thave any problem with CursorXP, then click on this link
http://www.alienware.com/Configurator_Pages/area-51.aspx

and try to scroll the bar on the right of your internet explorer up and down slowly, you wil see the options on the left messed up.

First things first, please verify you are not using Sun Microsystems Java. There is an issue with it and Microsoft..nothing anyone can do anything about, their legal teams have to hammer it out.

In case you're not sure here's the way to check:

in IE menu/tools/internet options/advanced/
Scroll down to 'Microsoft VM' and check 'Java console enabled'
If 'Java(Sun)' entry exists right above that, make sure it's not checked.

A picture speaks a thousand words:

Thanx to Shmoopy who originally pointed this out to me.

I didnt see Microsoft VM part, but I saw Java(sun), and I unchecked the box and restart my comp, so does that fix the problem? or do I have to get the MicrosfotVM which I couldn't find where to get it.

It should have already been on your computer as default when you installed XP, please recheck your advanced internet options for it. Otherwise this is the only direction I can point you in:

Hi Jincuteguy,

If you want i can e-mail java for win xp to you. You can't find it anymore on the website from Microsoft (they pulled it).

It is about 5 MB, for me it isn't a problem to mail it to you.

Let me know!

Chao,

Chris

SP 1 had VM ....SP 1a did not have it. It appears that anyone who downloaded the former has no problems and those that have the latter do. PhOOey is correct in how your options should be checked and that this is a real toss up until these two get their act together...this might help www.microsoft-watch.com/article2/0,4248,1032726,00.asp
