Reality Check

Wednesday, May 14, 2003 by DarkMist | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

When i first started here i used to browse the library's and just gaze at the great things i was seeing...no suprise that i wanted to join in the fun and give it ago, and only here was it that i made my first Wall not having any idea on what i was doing.

Time passed and i got things accepted and it just gave me a great feeling when it did and spurned me on to my next piece, which was to be a lethal circle for me.

I sent more and more work over time and i started to get drawn into it all and forgot everything around me existed, i pushed to do better and better as my life got pushed further and further away.

Now your reading this thinking what on earth im moaning about, well i know i'll only be speaking for myself but it needs to be said, for the behalf of a very special person to me.

I'd spend hours just sitting here flicking from page to page trying to take it all in, hoping to get the knowledge together to help when its asked, but instead i just made myself worse page by page.

Trying my best to get somewhere here was my aim and i have fulfilled some of that aim to this day, but it hasn't been easy, i made it into my life to be the best i could and contribute as much as i could.

It got to the point of saying i wasn't here when i was just to avoid being told i was obsessed, but that you must realise doesn't work.

All i want to say is dont let life pass you by.
You don't know what you have lost till its gone.

I'm out, be well.

All good artists are obsessed...it's only the great ones that know it. Hang in there and we'll catch you on the flip side

You are a good artist Dark. I hope you don’t completely abandon the site, and I hope you drop in from time to time.
Good luck.

DM:

I think it is incredible that you found the strength to do what you just did. And I pray to the gods, that you haven't lost too much for it. Know you'll be missed...and above all Be Well--Brightest of Blessings...and take care of you...and your's.

You will be missed but I think you are making the right move. I did not know how bad it was getting for you until last night. I agree, do not let life pass you by.

Do keep in touch though.

This sucks big time, Dark Mist. I'm so sorry to hear that.
Perhaps once you withdraw a bit for a while, you can come back but more moderately.

I still remember my first couple of years on the Internet. I was so addicted, I would chat and surf till 2 or 3 am every night, and still go to work the next morning. Almost did a burn-out.

Moderation is much better.

Well DM, thats quite a speech there... Im sorry to see you go and I hope you'll visit back here from time to time. Live Long and Prosper! And to yarg, I wouldn't say that all good artists are obsessed with their work. Just because you can make great walls or skin windowblinds expertly, doesn't mean you sit on the comp 24/7.

Yes, 'Everything in moderation.'

Moderation is good. and DM was never told to abandon the site. just keep it down to a few hours a day.

I will be encouraging him to keep on with his work and to continue in submitting it. Met DM in a chat room so we know how it all works and have to say did not like wot i saw in stardocks chat and did not like how DM behaved in there either.

I'm sure DM will be back in a more moderate form after abit of thinking time.

Thanks Gypsy. DM does some of my favorite stuff. Still, moderation as everyone says. Looking forward to hearing from you both!

'Everything in moderation

This includes moderation.

The mods here arent THAT unfair, sheesh. If not for them, youd have to sit there for hours sifting through lots of less-than-mediocre walls, blinds, cursors, etc. And regardless of how they do their job, there will always be someone who is going to gripe that they arent doing it well.

Eventorizon is misunderstanding here it think. By moderation, we mean that we understand DM has spent too much time here and needs to be more moderate in his use of Wincustomize.

In short, he's opted to "get a life" TM
