HTML (gzip) compression for wincustomize?

I've been coming here for a while (ever since I got my OD & wincustomize subscription), love the site. I don't post here that often because I am really pressed for time. Anyway getting to the point of the thread, I'm just curious as to why wincustomize doesnt use compression for the finalized html output of the site? It could save wonders on bandwidth issues & I know you guys have bandwidth issues. It wouldn't be hard to implement into an asp template system. Just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth.

I believe this is in the works, actually. T-Man was just running some tests a couple weeks ago.

Yeah actually IIS has support for it built in but I dunno if they have access to change the main IIS settings, but it wouldn't be hard at all to build into a template system. Either way glad to see they are gonna take advantage of this

IIS' built-in bits are only for static files. As WC builds pages on the fly, it doesn't help.
That said, T-Man has been testing a component that adds this support. But, on the WC pages, it's been getting into a "locked" condition every so often where everything stalls for 30 seconds or more.
We're working with the developers of the component to track this down.
It's also been enabled at various times on other websites here for testing. Including galciv.com and the main stardock.com site. Where it's worked great. Just WC manages to upset it.

But err, wasn't WinCustomize's biggest problem processing power instead of bandwidth? Or is that a thing of the past? Gzipping on one side will add overhead, but on the other will save bandwidth.
