New Message Board Rules

Tuesday, May 6, 2003 by grayhaze | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'd like to propose some new rules for this place after having just wasted almost two hours sifting through mindless drivel.

1) Quit whinging about how you're not getting the attention or recognition you deserve. Whingers don't deserve either.

2) Copyright discussions are pointless and a waste of everyone's time. We all know where we stand and that opinions on the matter differ wildly, so there's never going to be a solution. Protect your own work, and leave it at that.

3) Leave the dramatics to daytime soaps or private conversations. Nobody really cares if you're feeling a bit blue. Unless it's a nice neutral blue with a little gray and funky rounded buttons.

4) No more character attacks, unless you want to attack me. I thrive on misinformation.

5) Stop trying to convince everyone you know better than everyone else, regardless of subject. You don't. I do.

6) Anyone found to be using the site more for flame wars and amateur dramatics than they do for skinning and desktop customization should be shown the door. Everyone should start skinning somewhere, and a door can never have enough handles.

7) Help the newbies. Some of them are only puppies, and they're likely to soil the rug once in a while.

8) No more posts about how treetog/mormegil/adni18 hasn't created enough new stuff this week. Sometimes they sleep.

9) Answer any questions about certain competing skinning solutions with the silence they deserve. You can only scream 'It's a hack!' so many times at a brick wall.

10) Stop posting new rules. It just confuses things.

And a REALLY politically incorrect 'new rule' ... no posting in times of PMT!

I like the sound of that add-on pack for GalCiv.. you never know.. I think that would be quite funny to see on the store shelves.

»""Grammar Wars" - the exciting add-on module for Galactic Civilizations!!! Coming soon to a website near you. Try out the "Conjugation Cannon" or the "Linguistic Laser"! Beware of the "Vicious Verb Vivisector", and don't be engulfed in a cloud of "Preposition Plasma". You will never withstand the assault of the "Infinite Infinitive Injector". Repair and recharge your forces at the "Conjunction Junction". Hmmm, wait a minute, I've heard that somewhere before... "»"master advanced tactics: befuddle the enemy's sensors with nonparallel constructions - set ambushes with the "Dangling Participler" - wear him down mercilessly with excessive use of passive voice! this add-on module is going to give Jafo an errr.. moment of intense excitement. i definately agree with rule number 3. Im sick of posts about ppl's personal problems.if there is a death/suicide etc in your family sharing it with us is simply going to make us sad. And no1 likes being sad

MrGupps...a problem shared is a problem halved..

Either that, or you just get twice as many people feeling peeved...

Being able to share with others a personal problem like a death in the family or a health problem is what make this a family. I would hope that good thoughts posted from others can help the poster in their time of need.

Remember, we are a community of people sharing a common bond - skinning and each other.

What effects one effects all, and sharing, whether skinning or problems, is what we do here.

Drama is theatrical and for Theaters, not the msg board.
Just keeping it real is all that is necessary.
