I've been to NC, I always thought it was a beautiful place. I wouldn't mind living there...

Why are you relocating snarph? for a job or for the beaches?

Snarph,

I guess it depends on where you want to relocate to in North Carolina. Up by Raleigh/Durham or over in Charlotte it is beautiful. Now if you want to come down to the little area that I live in that is a different story. I've been stationed on and off, in Eastern North Carolina for about 19 years, and there is not a lot there except forests and swamps and 100 Billion mosquitos. It realy depends on where you want to go, and I guess that is about the same anywhere. If you let me know a general area I would be glad to let you know what it is like there.

well its like this wound up in the panhandle of West Virgina from Texas "Houston" there abouts mind you thats via California "San Francisco Bay area" ANY WAY I DIGRESS been in West Virginia about a year and a half and worked maybe 3 months. Not because I don't wish to work but haven't been able to get past the your not from here syndrome? So we started thinking were there any places close with in a couple of hundred miles an Charlotte NC. seem to fit the bill 500,00 population base jobs sorta inland for the east coast so thats why I am asking

Asheville,,yeah.Soooooo cool in the Blue Ridge Mountains.Very nice people there,,kinda hippie in a way and a mere hop sans the skip-n-jump to the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the most amazing sites it this land. And being in NC your only a hop-skip-n-jump to the ocean. What more could you want.Lots of fantastic Universities too in the Triad Area already mentioned.Wonderful State,,IMHO.

I live in North Carolina

If you're here to work: Unless you're planning on moving to Raleigh, avoid the state like the plague. It's a nice place to visit, but not to live (or find a job in). Also, if you have school age children, avoid the state at all costs, education is one of the worst in the nation, and they're getting huge budget cuts.

If you're here to retire: The mountains are wonderful, but they get northern type snow in the winter. The coasts are also wonderful, except for the hurricanes. The middle is simply miserable in the summer and there's nothing to do there.
