Updating old WB skins
Windows versions ready
Saturday, April 16, 2016 by NetBadger | Discussion: Skinning
There aren't many new free WB skins these days. I have around six old skins I made for XP. Most were rated six stars, so I feel like I at least have a decent foundation to build on. How do I go about updating them to get the Windows 7, 8, and 10 ready badge for my skins?
Please keep in mind, I am an old fart 10 years out of practice on making skins.
Thanks in advance for any help, you can offer.

This thread has been officially hijacked by coffee fanatics. Mountain Dew is my caffeine fix.
While we are on the subject of updating WB skins, do you think there has been a decline of
"skinning" or modifying later versions of Windows in general?

Yes, I do believe there's a decline in skinning. Use to be all sorts of people were making them, now seems like only a few.
One of my favorite skinners is "Essorant". Tried reaching him/her a few times, but no response. Current blind in use is "Laguna", and listed by Stardock Design. Will Stardock Design be updating their Windowblinds to Win 10?

If it's a win 7 skin it will work pretty well. If it's xp or vista not so much. As far as SD updating old skins. Anything is possible but from what I have read when asked by others I doubt it.

I really doubt that SD will make the investment of time an labor to do much of any more updates to Windowblinds in general, much less the older skins. I asked the question about the decline of skinning, and even it didn't get much response. If there isn't a profit in it for them, it doesn't make sense for a business. Individuals who do it for the love of skinning might, but they'd have to be pretty dedicated.

Back in my early days I skinned .MSStyles for StyleXP until TGTSoft folded. I for one will continue to design Windowblinds skins until either I, or it, dies.

Lightstar,
I think you fit into Individuals who do it for the love of skinning might, but they'd have to be pretty dedicated.
Thank goodness for the dedicated folk!
