But isn't that being fed to you by the 'non-partisan' English media? Though I too believe that Saddam is a much hated figure, I think that you neglect an ordinary citizen's sense of patriotism. They may despise Saddam, but they stand behind him when their sovereignity is under threat by external forces. No human being, with a bit of pride, would accept domination of another entity, however good or profitable. And isn't this what most US citizens are doing now? They support the troops because 'US' is at war, and not because 'Dubya' is.
Yesterday, I saw the 'coalition' forces take out Iraqi TV stations? Why? Because the Iraqi are resorting to the same means as the US? The only difference is that atleast Iraqi TV and the 'non-partisan' channels with embedded reporters is that Iraqi TV spreads propoganda because it is state-controlled. The others do it out of 'free will'.

@shu: Ask yourself *when* they blew it up. Was it the first few rounds of attacks? No, it was days after... right after Saddam had broadcast an inflamatory speech. The US had destroyed much of the Iraqi military communication, and Saddam Hussein was on television directing people how to fight. On top of that Iraqi television was broadcasting the same thing their ignorant press conferences have to say, that the US is out for the wholesale genocide of the Iraqi people, yadda, yadda, yadda. Since Iraqi television is the only outlet for news most Iraqis have, it is as much a weapon as a bomb. I remember listening to him and hearing 'zionist plot' or some such about a half dozen times and thinking to myself, why are they letting this worm speak publically anyway? The bomb made sense to me.

My main beef with ya is that the 'in-the-know' attitude that you hate so much is the way you come off, too. A lot of us go to great extremes to look at a lot of different sources of information. I know you do have a huge grasp of the situation and military matters in general. We all resort to the "turn off CNN" slap from time to time, but you have it down to a science. Perhaps a footnote or citation every now and then would help remind us of why we *aren't* as 'in-the-know', as you. Perhaps we aren't quite often, it is just hard to swallow without some sort of reason to.
That said, i've done it often myself, so I have no right to throw stones.
I don't consider you any worse than the rest of us. I would just say what i thought and try not to call Frogboy a fascist or nazi or whatever it was, lol.

W.Bush always intended to invade Iraq. The invasion is just finishing up on unfinished family business. H.Bush et.al. are driving W.Bush. Look at all the family cronies in his administration and you'll see H.Bush is still running the U.S. through his boy. W.Bush really doesn't have a clue as to how to administer a country like the U.S. I believe that W.Bush is more like a small boy playing with a soldier play set. A true bully. WMD? I think that's a convienent excuse to finish the family business. (At least for everyones sake I hope so.) Ah, me. You just have to have lived in Texas, U.S.A. to really know the truth about the Bush family.
On another note, I do support our troops and wish them God Speed to victory and to protect them from harm so that they can come home.

I don't know what rock you've been under... but 2 years ago people saddam funded flew airplanes into two of the biggest buildings in the country... this war is about sticking our foot up iraq's butt... for everything they've done....

OC's always lived in America. Was in the Armed Forces of America. Lives in Texas. Knows and has lived in the state since way before G.Bush ran it into the ground. Ah, me. You need a dictionary and a grammar primer. The U.S. has not declared war on Iraq, the U.S. is enforcing U.N. Resolution 1441. Besides I do believe Hussiens mighty battle fleet with aircraft carriers, his grand air force with stealth technology, and his highly trained professional army, have gone south for the winter. I'm almost sure that all his nuclear ballistic missles have been shot toward Washington too. America is not now, nor should it ever be, the worlds policeman. Get your facts correct, and don't just sprout dogma or propaganda; it belittles any argument.

As an aside, Al-Jazeera is now accusing the US military for hacking their website. I guess it would be logical that the Pentagon would want Al-Jazeera shut down, considering they are a puppet of terrorists and habitual liars.

I was a lot more apt to believe we accidently hit it the first time... now both instances seem a bit too 'made-for-tv'. The Iraqi television film didn't really show much damage to the buildings or the street, either. Reminded me more of suicide or car bomb newsreel. Anyhoo, that's war, i guess.

kona: actually China *could* stop us, at any time, with ease. As could a half dozen other world powers. That is actually the reason the whole 'anti-war' stance by most of the world is such a laugh. At any time they could prevent us from doing it. We would never risk open war with China, or even ( *yuck yuck* ) France. Most of the resistance to what we want to do in Iraq is grandstanding, and the rest is greed.

China might TRY to stop us. The other reason no one screws with us is the fact we have the worlds largest and most powerful nukes. A few well placed ICBM's from a few trident subs and China would be gone. They call it a deterent for a reason.

Well as History has proved time and again - mighty Empires have been falling by the side of the roadway since history has been recorded. It seems as if people have forgotten that the U.S. has already taken out the terrorists that bombed us on 9/11. Remember Afghanistan? Usama Bin Ladin is the target as well as the Taliban. We took care of the WTC bombers already. Iraq is a different scenerio altogether. I just refuse to run around like chicken little crying that the sky is falling and that there is a terrorist in every bush. War and the treasury of the U.S. can't afford all these bush wars that crop up every so often. The U.S. will end up like Israel fighting everybody and no one. I'm going to bed, this is a useless waste of time. >
