What do you want fixed on WinCustomize?
Monday, November 16, 2015 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Hi All,
For those of you who do not know me, I'm a developer here at Stardock. Actually one of the original developers of WinCustomize.com.
As you have seen, WinCustomize has not had many updates recently. So, I'm looking to try and clean things up a little bit here. Starting out by fixing a few things. So, I'm asking you, what issues on WinCustomize have really been bugging you that you would like to have fixed?

So here is a question for Skin Authors. What would be a good feature/fix that you would like to see that would be beneficial to you, as an Author, on WinCustomize?
maybe this is not a feature\fix request but only a change of the editing skins policy:
when I upload a new skin it will shown in the gallery just few minutes later (thanks to the journeyman benefits)
but if in a second time I edit the image preview and\or the zipped content, the same skin is going to pass the moderation usually lasting 1 or 2 days
it will be good to have a direct access to the galleries also after the edit actions or at least after the image preview editing.
thanks

I agree! If you allow it to post the first time without moderation, it should not need any moderation when the author changes something minor, or major..

I think it's to prevent "bumping" but anyone who does that shouldn't be Journeyman or higher and should be stripped of title upon abuse of the privilege.

That's something else new to me...bumping?
When you update the file, you are given the option to reset the upload date to bring it to the top of the new uploads rather than it keeping it's place on whatever page it's on. That is intended for example if you have done major changes to the file making it in a sense "new".

Good point as I didn't really know what you meant wither.
Since you know how about this. Lets say when WB 10 is available and you find you need to add several images or make other SKS changes, adjustments. How would you unload that as to not get in trouble?

Pat...that's easy. Just about first on the list should be the facility to upload images directly to the forum threads from a person's computer without the unnecessary complication of a third party image site.
On the site I do my aircraft skins it's as easy as pie...promoting far more activity on the forums/threads.
BTW... That's sim-outhouse.com [I'm Jafo there too]...![]()

Pat...I'll post it here in case you missed it elsewhere...
When a spammer posts...and the comments are deleted...his nick still holds the thread in the recent comments list even after there is no comment anymore.
That both causes confusion and displaces the true recent comments.
Recent spam displaced them 2 pages....![]()

Damned spammers! The top 10 posts in 'My Replies' are locked threads because of spam.
Sadly, torture and public castration is illegal in most countries.

The forum where I moderate (www.stargazerslounge.com) (over there I'm Mr Spock),has a 'flag as spammer' option. When you flag someone as a spammer, it removes them, their posts and their presence from the site. Handy feature which you would find useful here ![]()

The "Win7 ready" checkboxes & symbols under the skins should be updated to "Win 8/10 ready"

I have a request that may help a lot of people.
I visit WC a lot on a tablet. Being touchscreen, the karma, report, quote, and reply buttons are hard, if not impossible, to hit. Since they are hidden until mouseover.
If you could unhide them, make then visible all the time, this problem would be solved.
I have 2 touchscreen PCs at home that also have the problem.
Oh, and please "fix" Jafo......hehe haha...I'll pay for that........

How about giving us the ability to hide locked threads?
There are a lot of them lately, due to spammers.

This will never happen but could cross posting of threads between forums be elimated?

Yes, absolutely yes! One or two here or there is bad enough, but ten or more all showing up together, as was the case just recently, is a bit much.
I still think we should be able to track down spammers through their IP addresses to perform anaesthetic free 'nad removals with a blunt butter knife.

Sorry guys I like you all but don't think you gave this request much thought. First I think SD mods get rid of them pretty fast. It does happen to often but not as bad as you make it out to be.
Second. Can you just sit back and imagine this. There is a thread you don't like so you decide to block it. Now there are 50 more threads that other people don't like so they block them. I find it hard to ever believe that if we had the ability to block a thread it would only be to block a spammer.
The request is fine but you all know that spam sites would not be the only sites getting blocked.
As far as the cross threads that started not to long ago. I didn't like them at all but guess they don't bother me anymore and got use to them. Remove them now and this place would be like a ghost town. Saying that how about all the people that may still not like them. What would stop anyone from blocking them. Now they get blocked so those other forum people block WC threads. There would be nothing left.
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't believe so. Besides it's also just my opinion.

Have a look at this page: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/all/pagesize/350/view/list/author/2of3
I have said this before, the Author column is totally useless. I know who the author of the skins are because it's a page for my skins! Instead I would like to see that column dedicated to skin type (WB, rainy, wallpaper etc). While you're fixing this section you could add the feature to click on the column headers to sort them according to size, comments most to less etc.
