AS i wait for my the rest of my parts on m new computer, ive been trying to get every ounce of performance out of my current machine so i can make wallpapers again, ya ther is a reason i havnt made anything in a while, my computer has slowd to a snails pace and 3d studio will not run anymore. So im wondering if anyone has any suggestion.

And just outta curiosity what sorta tweeks does everyone else have on there systems

only tweeks i've made is with apperance to speed up performance and constantly running the hard disc clean ups, ad-aware helps and clearing out the prefetch (XP only)

I just bought a new system when my old one couldn't handle the strain anymore. I recently bought a Dell monster system, got the best of everything put into it! But, for 4 years I worked on a PII233Mhz, with 64Mb ram, a 3Gb Hard Drive and a crappy 15" monitor with a 4Mb Graphics card! In fact, most of my 250 uploads to this site were made on that system.
The only "tweak" that I have on this new 'puter is "Cyberlat Ram Cleaner" for freeing up Ram when using Photoshop and the .psd files get a little big (Well, huge would be more accurate!)

The best 'tweak' you can make is to maximize the amount of RAM in your computer and also on your video card...

If you have a lot of RAM aleady you don't need any Ram optimizing software......

Dark Mist: just do a search on Google, you'll find it. I can't remember where I picked it up.

windows is taking more hard drive space to make more RAM space and its gradually slowing things down

More RAM will make your computer faster than increasing the clock speed...

Another good tip I found: I have two hard drives totalling 100Gb. One is empty, and so I put my windows swap file on there, and my Temporary Internet Files, apparently this can have quite an effect on speed.
It made quite a difference to my system.

Yes Boxxi, that is an excellent tip... If you only have one hard drive you can create a separate partition to use for the same purpose.

I use two 60GB's, but I keep Temp Int File set for one day. I run 649 Mb ram with an optimizer and that helps a lot.
