Transparent colors?

I'm having troubles getting sections of graphic files to be transparent. I seem to recall reading some tutorial that referred to "magic pink" and I can't find that reference anywhere and all my graphics are displaying pink where they should be transparent. Can anyone help?

My main fault is...I wear my heart on my sleeve...I've learned to toughen up some (thank goodness) but I'm still a tender heart.

My daughter is older now...she doesn't need me much...she's so smart. My baby girl...so grown up and beautiful...
I thought...having a purpose...no matter how silly...meant something...to me...here... I feel lost... Wom & Fuzzy...they are fragile...we all are...
