What is Microsoft Doing?

microsoft wireless router module

Saturday, July 18, 2015 by WinMonster2 | Discussion: Personal Computing

When looking in device manager this afternoon I found a new category call Network Infrastructure Under this listing it is microsoft wireless router module. I never seen this before installing a my new wireless router. I do know I do not need it for my network to work properly but, I can find a way to get rid of it. I right click on it in Device manager and choose uninstall and clicked the checked the box to delete this driver. But,when you reboot it comes back again.

How do I get rid of this?

A bit of info. It may also be needed for things like a wireless printer or storage, not just to connect to the internet. I'd leave it alone, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Thanks for the links Wizard but the problem with this item does not help, Since microsoft pushed it through my wifi range has been limited and the time it takes to print something to the wireless printer now takes 3 to 4 minutes. It used to take 20 seconds or so.

this is why I am trying to get rid of it.

Since microsoft pushed it through

If it was installed as a Windows Update, you should be able to uninstall the update, then hide it next time it shows up.

If you did this recently, you could also use system restore to go back to a point before it was installed.
