.tga files

I would like to know what program creates .tga files i notice all the new skins are haveing them and was wondering how to edit them or create my own??? any info would be helpful thanks

It's just another format like jpeg or bmp. Photo Shop has that format. Don't know about PSP but would guess it has it also.

You just make your graphic as usual, and when you "save a copy", just scroll down to the bottom of the list and you will see .tga listed there (in Photoshop). Remember, if you are making .tga files to use in a WindowBlinds skin, they must be uncompressed 32bit files, and in SkinStudio you must set "Translucency IS being used".

PSP doesn't do 32bit tga. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I do not understand why we can't have png support in WindowBlinds.

Koasati, when you import a transparent PNG in Skin Studio, it will automaticaly convert it into a transparent TGA.

And if you import a not transparent PNG, it will convert it into a BMP.

targa files are kinda larger than jpg and about the same quality in display?

svg would be a nice addition to graphics handeled 
though probably more of a pain to add than it is worth, program wise...

I was thinking more about keeping the size of resource use when displaying down, trading against that difference in quality. One of the reasons I have been wondering about svg is it scales up or down without any deviation in display quality.

JPG doesn't support alpha blending. It's apples and oranges.

It's just that PSP7 doesn't make the right kind of .tga files, but now I don't have to worry about that. Sure wish that little tidbit would have been exposed a little sooner.

But how would I have known to ask?
I certainly wouldn't have made that connection as a possibility.
